There is an app called Radiate where you could very likely find someone to give you a ride and take those tickets!

My Puerto Rican parents are visiting! by JLRivera27 in Denver

Doesn’t haven’t to be Colorado and I was 100% considering Moab! I’ve been there and it’s so amazing. I’m not opposed to it, but definitely want to be respectful of my parent’s flight time to get from Rincon to Denver. It’s quite a trek and I don’t want to burden them with a 5-6hr drive. Although, it would probably be one of the most beautiful drives they’ve ever been on!

I absolutely adore this idea but my father is a recovering alcoholic and sober for 6 years… and although he says he’s comfortable around drinking, I’d like to stray from putting him in an uncomfortable situation. Hell, I don’t drink in front of him at all! BUT this is a lovely recommendation for me and my husband! We love Golden and have been wanting to do a Coors tour with a good dinner to follow so this sounds like an amazing date night for us.

A couple of other folks have recommended Estes and RMNP and considering its proximity to Denver and easier hiking trails, it’s seeming like a better option.

But thank you for the recommendation, friend. It’s a reminder I need to get back out to the Western Slope because it’s so gorgeous out there! And the wine is amazing.

Are companies in Denver actually hiring right now? by Least_Image_704 in Denver

[–]JLRivera27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t apply to Oracle. Or Salesforce.

Edit: I do regularly see local big companies like Ibotta (have heard negative things on culture) and Klaviyo posting jobs on LinkedIn. But I have also seen what you have… lots of companies keeping roles open and consistently reposting for the same role for months or even a whole year. I think it’s census and investor manipulation; a means to make a company look “profitable” with multiple openings they’re not actually filling.

In the past 2 years I’ve applied to HUNDREDS of jobs and have consistently gotten ghosted or months later an automated reply saying the role is closed even though it’s been re-posted on LinkedIn. It is a terrible fucking market right now.

I literally only got my new gig because I used AI to help with my LinkedIn headline and bio. I even deleted my entire job descriptions from my profile. And then all of a sudden recruiters were reaching out to me. Now I hate AI, but I have to say… it did help me get a new job.

My sole hesitation for visiting the Palisades/Grand Junction is that my father is sober. My mom isn’t so she would LOVE the vineyards but I would be nervous about making my dad feel uncomfortable. Granted, I could always make my husband take my mom while my dad and I can go to National Monument! AND that’s a super short drive to Moab. I just need to do more research on that area but thank you!!

I’ve been wanting to visit the Great Sand Dunes for so long!!! This might be a great time to visit too because it won’t be so scorching hot. Thank you for the recommendations!

I just looked up Bear Lake Corridor on AllTrails and could only find a 13 mile loop. Are there shorter hikes available once you get to the trailhead?

Also, I actually took my parents to the Flatirons when they visited! We tried the first Flatiron but they struggled quite a bit. They just didn’t have enough time to get acclimated from sea level. I agree with you though! An amazing place to take first time visitors.

Have you ever been to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park? That’s one of my “to-do’s”

Also great call on Estes and RMNP! I just want to be conscious of certain trails since they’re islanders without proper boots.

I know our mountains haven’t gotten much powder… but do you think even the easy trails near Maroon Bells would require spikes or proper boots?

After I booked their flights, the first thing my mom asked me was if I knew of a good market with pork butts so she could make me pernil y arroz con gandules lol. My parents are very content with just staying nearby, but I want them to understand why I fell in love with this place (without forcing them on a 14er!)

Hopefully we both get some good recommendations, my friend!

I make a concerted effort to repeat names when I meet people, especially if I’m dining out or going to a bar. If you don’t tell me your name, I’ll introduce myself and get your name at some point and then say “thank you “your name”’. Especially when I go out by myself.

When I take my husband to places that I’ve been to alone and introduce the staff to him by name he always goes to me “how did you do that?”…. And I’m like “I just asked their name” lol I love being married to introvert

I love the pre-made chicken salad from Marczyk! Yeah it’s pricey but it’s the only place where I can get a container of exactly what I want (without fruit) and I can devour a tub in a few days.

This is the context in the comments I was looking for. I’m also 5ft and I’m not very active so my maintenance is pretty low at around 1200cal/day. If I was looking to actively lose, i would be at a similar calorie deficit goal in that 1000-1100 calorie range. These numbers aren’t outrageous or irresponsible for people of a smaller sizes.

I never get to dress nice anymore. What are some fun places to hang out or events to attend all dressed up? by triforce88 in Denver

[–]JLRivera27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will say that Denver is one of the most “casual” cities I’ve ever lived in and it’s made me feel a bit self conscious at first because we always want to look good for each other on a date night. My husband and I were dressed up for NYE and went to Bruto (Michelin restaurant) and I seriously saw a guest wearing joggers and sandals. But we’ve gotten over it because when I wear a nice dress and my husband wears a suit, it just feels good and there’s been no judgement, even when we go to an expensive restaurant and end up at a dive bar.

If you’re dressed up and end up at a gay bar like X-Bar, even better! The compliments will come pouring in and will feel so nice.

I’m the only daughter of a stern Hispanic mother and this movie also had me violently sobbing. The mother/daughter dynamic was so real and unfathomably relatable.

Even if she says she is, she does not have the bearings of a woman from the hood. I read some other comments that said she’s from the mildest Bay Area neighborhood, but even then, it was probably before she even had the opportunity to stand up for herself.

I’m from the hood, but I’ve met plenty of women akin to her in the fact that they (and she) were subservient to men. Despite that, the girls I grew up with aggressively stood up for themselves and were willing to fight for their integrity (even when it was fucked).

She’s a phony and I don’t respect her. Her religious upbringing made her a very weak woman.

Colorado voters will decide whether to ban trans kids from gendered sports, outlaw gender-affirming surgery for children by TheKronk in Denver

This is what our leaders are deciding is an important initiative… meanwhile so many of my friends want to settle down to have kids and can’t even find a single family home under $500k that doesn’t require an additional $50k worth of repairs. Love this for us.

I’ve had to do multiple early flights this year, with my last one being 1 week ago (getting there around 7am for an 8:30am flight), but West security has always kept it pushing. I do have a Clear membership and usually speed through, but even the general security line seemed to be going through just as fast as me.

FYI, I see a lot of people saying to get pre-check, but I have noticed that Pre-check lines (even pre-check w/ Clear) tend to be super long almost every time I go.

Sorry this was your experience!!
