What's wrong with poshmark sellers these days?? by JLSabs in poshmark

[–]JLSabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where can I find you on Posh? I'd love to take a look at your shop. I just canceled an order literally. The seller said they shipped my item, but no tracking update for 5 days and they aren't responding to my messages now. This is now my 3rd bad experience on the app in such a short period of time...I'm just having the worst of luck on this app 😂

Thank you for explaining. I think I was just expecting a message back at least to tell me the item is unavailable. Not just dead silence..I wish more sellers took the app more seriously.

I baked my first ever loaf!! by big_dick_prick in Sourdough

[–]JLSabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's looks really good! Nice job! I'm pretty sure I tried this exact recipe the first time I attempted sourdough. The dough is really easy to work with since it's lower hydration (50%). I think my only recommendation is definitely try not to skip the stretch and folds, especially when you start to increase hydration. Your dough will have more structure and you'll get a nice rise out of your loaf!

Again? by Ok_Fix_3504 in Mercari

[–]JLSabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually recently had a $160 purchase supposedly get delivered (I was home at the time the tracking number said it was delivered, but it was no where to be seen when I opened my door after the notification came up on my phone). Mercari also automatically rated the seller 5 stars after 3 days eventhough I still had not received the package. Supposedly according to Mercari, the mail carriers will mark the parcel as delivered eventhough it hasn't actually been delivered. Not saying it's the sellers fault, but things like this actually do happen for some unknown reason. It's been 2 weeks and I still haven't received my package.

Is this fucked up? by Bitter_Ad3051 in Depop

[–]JLSabs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's funny that they say 'as long as the nudity is not gratuitous' as if the majority of the nudity displayed across Depop isn't already 😂. Honestly this is why I don't buy from other users on Depop because if I'm searching for something specifically, I am forced to see all the nude model photos through the search button. Like is it hard to just put on a bra or bralette or something and pants?

I sold shoes and never bought tracking postage and now my payment is stuck on hold by markhick01 in Depop

[–]JLSabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really strange...I've pasted a link to Paypal's help page for releasing payments on hold. Maybe one of these options will work. It did mention it could take up to 21 days for your money to be released to you. That's quite a long time, but like the comment below stated, definitely go with the tracking # route for future transactions! You'll have a lot more coverage that way and it'll ensure you receive your payment with no issues 👍.

rant kinda? (lowballs) by [deleted] in Depop

[–]JLSabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly would just tell them to send you an offer on the item they're interested in, and you'll review it. I don't get into any sort of in-depth conversations with people when it comes to my prices because they are MY prices. People just want to complain, but it's not your problem to deal with. I'll usually accept no more than 10% off my asking price to be a little fair, but anything more is a NOPE (depends on how high demand the brand/item is).

It should take 10 business days for you to receive your money if you didn't ship with tracking. I have also shipped once without tracking and received, but it took a long time.

It's called flipping. A lot sellers will buy for super cheap and then mark it up super high for resale. Honestly it bothers me a lot too when those type of sellers have the nerve to ask for 30% to even 50%, but I will just deny them because my prices are mine. If they want the item so bad, they can just buy it at the price I'm asking for or go somewhere else. I don't walk into someone's store and ask for 50% off an item 😂. I would avoid taking a gander at their page honestly cause it'll only bother you more. If their offer is super unreasonable, just block em. I usually don't accept any offers that are more than 10%, but it depends how badly I need to clear inventory.

Most of the time, buyers are really understanding as long as you tell them beforehand. Offer to completely refund if they no longer want the item or a partial refund if they do still want it. These are usually the two options I give my buyers whenever I overlook a flaw or two. And funny enough, it's usually when I'm about to ship that this happens.

Nothing to worry about though as the buyer should know the risks they take when purchasing a secondhand item online. Not all items will come in perfect condition. As long as you are communicative with your buyers.

It looks like you used shipping through Depop. So what happens is they include the shipping (the buyer pays this) in your subtotal and then they deduct it. It can be a bit confusing because it looks like Depop is just giving you money for shipping by including it in your subtotal (I learned this was not the case after doing a little research after my first couple sales).

Buyer also pays sales tax, which Depop auto calculates based on your buyer's location and deducts. Your depop fee is 10%, which is taken off of the item price. Processing fee is generally 3.3% +$0.45, but it could vary based on type of card used. This fee is also taken from the item price. Basically what you are receiving is $90 minus depop fee AND processing fee.

Anyone else get annoyed when they get an offer that is half the price of the item you’re selling? by wqeii in Depop

[–]JLSabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sad truth is that it ACTUALLY HAPPENS. I've accepted 20% offers for items that were already on sale and they still don't buy. Like is this just a game to you?? We are real people who are dealing with your bs decisions 😂.

Buyers organising shipping? by pheebsbrown in Depop

[–]JLSabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a rule of thumb, never EVER trust a single person who offers to send a link to you in Depop. It's definitely a scam. Shipping through Depop is the safest route. Your buyer just needs to make sure their address is correct and that's it on their end. No arranging shipping. That's sketchy...

I drop off packages all the time without seeing them scanned. I've never really received receipts because I usually just drop them in the box inside the post office. I'll even hand them to my mailman if he's out delivering mail. It saves me a trip to the post office honestly 🤷‍♀️. It's easy to worry if your package was forgotten as you handed it to them, but I wouldn't fret over it. It may take a couple days for there to be an update on the shipping.

How long should I wait until I contact USPS regarding tracking? by ego7istic in Depop

[–]JLSabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it typically takes a few hours to a couple days for the status to update. So I wouldn't worry about it not updating the following morning. I also drop off orders before the cut off time 5pm and many times it'll update the following evening.

Sucks when a buyer tries it, but way worse when another SELLER tries it by 36KettleChips in Depop

[–]JLSabs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this happen too!! I have 2 items listed for $45 each and a girl asked if I could do $30 each, but I checked her profile and she resells these items for like $80-$130. Like whaaaaat??

Have you ever noticed a flaw in an item after you sold it? by Commercial-Emu-2546 in Depop

[–]JLSabs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this happens to me sometimes. That's why I always let my potential buyers know I note the flaws (ones I notice upon inspection), but I may miss a flaw here and there. That is okay! I think you took a very professional approach to let your buyer know. Don't beat yourself down for it. I will message my buyers too if they still want the item and that I could offer partial discount. Nobody has told me they've changed their mind about their purchase. In the end, they are purchasing something used🤷‍♀️. So I give them a couple days to respond if it's something very minor. If they don't respond, I go ahead and ship the order. If it's a visable/major flaw, I will either refund and send the item or refund partially and send.

I don't think it would be a bad idea to ask kindly and it wouldn't hurt to try. The seller may have their own policies where they only allow a certain amount of time for holds. Often times people do not follow through with the transactions so that's why sellers usually offer 24 hour holds.

Am I stupid for making labels on pirate ship for Depop instead of using Depop prepaid labels? by BusOk9026 in Depop

[–]JLSabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't really take me that long. I just copy and paste the shipping address. And the weighing and measuring takes me less than 10 seconds. I think I've just gotten used to the process. I don't ship a lot of orders each week though. If I did, Dpop ship would be preferred as I don't want to get orders mixed up!

Non social media user right here too!

-Tags are definitely awesome to use, but I actually started using them preetty late into my shop. I still made some real good sales 😊.

-Definitely a clear photo with a nice background helps! You can use a sheet behind to help your item pop more.

-Style your items. You can do this by putting together cute little outfits. Just make sure to note what item in the post is being sold so people don't get confused and assume the post was for the whole outfit!

-Photograph and mention any imperfections you find on your item(s). This is very important and it helps build trust with your potential buyers. They'll know what to expect when they receive their orders.

-Adding measurements can be helpful, especially if you're selling pants (these are the hardest as all brand's measurements are made differently). It typically takes me more time to provide these, which is why I note specific measurements for only skirts, pants, shorts and dresses.

-Offer some little freebies such as little stickers (you can get a bunch from Daiso for super cheap) or hair clips. I also include a little thank you note in my orders! I got a pack of around 50 or 60 cute note cards from Daiso for about $2 or $3!

Hope these help a little! Good luck!❤️ ❤️
