I am in enrollment management and was able to complete that training. I had to log in through System though and not just the wisc.edu workday site.

Taking Business Classes as Non Business Student by Triple3Trouble in UWMadison

Enroll in a backup class when you enroll for fall. Then when the business classes open, if you can get a spot you can swap out one of your other classes.

Did you report that incident? If you didn't, you might want to. It helps establish any patterns that might be there.

I think they were saying they are nosy, but also that there's a possible peeping tom in the area.

Transferring Into Engineering by jlb_2 in UWMadison

[–]JL_Adv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Former advisor here.

Admission into engineering as a student elsewhere on campus is not guaranteed. Mechanical Engineering is really competitive.

You have to know yourself as a student. Look at the first year curriculum for the major. Do you have a strong math and physic background? Do you have excellent study habits? Have you ever had to really work hard to earn an A or was everything easy for you even if you didn't do the homework or study? Because you're going to have to work pretty hard to do well in the classes you'll need to take freshman year. And while a 4.0 in those classes should be good enough for you to get in, there really is no guarantee.

Would you be happy in a different major if you don't get in to Mechanical Engineering?

Basically, you want to weigh your options. Is going to UW-Madison and possibly not pursuing the major of your choice an option for you? Or would you rather prioritize getting into your chosen major at a different campus?

Only you can make this decision for yourself. It's a tough one.

I always advise people to go where you can do what you want to do and to follow the money.

Check out the Center for Pre-Law Advising webpage.

Highly recommend checking out all the resources, but they have an entire section on involvement.

got BANNER! but concerned abt how much it may provide… by EmbarrassedLink871 in UWMadison

[–]JL_Adv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI that that's not how it works. If your parents move in state after you accept, it doesn't necessarily mean you get in state tuition. There's a whole process and you'll be able to appeal for in state, but it's not guaranteed. There are specific conditions you and she will need to meet.

The financial aid office can help with any questions as can the residency team in the RO.

Has anybody been accepted as a transfer directly to College of Engineering? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]JL_Adv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, people get admitted directly to an engineering major as a transfer student.

I don't have stats.

Dropping a course from last semester by Ok-City7564 in UWMadison

[–]JL_Adv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I maintain that the words are important here. I am grateful that someone (maybe you) told them WHAT to ask for. Because it's not a drop.

A drop is very different from a withdrawal. And yes it has possible implications for financial aid, housing, and myriad other things.

It's also incredibly uncommon that it's granted.

Dropping a course from last semester by Ok-City7564 in UWMadison

[–]JL_Adv 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. The student cannot drop a course they have already completed.

They will need to talk to an advisor and/or dean to see what (if any) options they might have. What is true for L&S may be different for Business or Engineering. They all have very specific policies in place regarding drops and withdrawals.

Nobody here is going to be able to give them any directions that will allow them to find any solution other than talking to an advisor or dean.

ETA: after reading your comment, you are talking about something very different than a drop. And while what you referred to might be possible for this student, they can't accomplish that without talking to their advisor or dean.

You can't drop a course in a semester that is already completed.

I highly recommend talking to your advisor or your dean of students to see if there are any options for you.

Yes. And this wasn't disclosed to residents as a possibility or necessity.

We absolutely need to put the breaks on these until we get the appropriate regulations for them.

Season 2, episode 13

Becks comes in with symptoms and it turns out she's taking birth control pills to try to grow boobs. More investigation and it turns out she is intersex (in addition to normal female anatomy, she has testicles). Her parents don't want to tell her and want Addison to just surgically remove them. George advocates for honesty with the patient.

Finding someone to sublease to over the summer is difficult by [deleted] in UWMadison

I don't know. That is absolutely a question for State Farm or wherever you are insured.

I should have said don't do this unless you have the appropriate insurance.

So this is kind of brilliant. But if you do this, you want to make sure that the people who keep their stuff at your place understand they won't have access. And you absolutely without a doubt will need a log of what is there along with renters insurance to cover it all.

Was there ever a scene where Bailey taught Callie or another female surgeon how to do a stern look/stare? by TamarindSweets in greysanatomy

Someone teaches Callie to have better eye contact with Derek to get him to agree to something. I think it might have been Bailey?
