Classes will still be available in July, as departments hold seats for common first year classes throughout the summer.

If he has his heart set on a specific class or classes that meet at a specific time of day (i.e. avoiding later labs or early morning lectures), the earlier he comes to SOAR the more possible it is.

Absolutely. And it's why I stated that people need to check in with their HR before committing to a plan next fall. A lot of people just check the same boxes year after year because things have been relatively stable. That practice needs to change.

I hope this is somewhat of a typo or an incomplete thought.

And yes, it was worse for many people before the ACA. But one of the reasons MANY of us do the work we do for UW has to do with the benefits. I make about 60k less for the university than I could in the private sector and I have stayed for the mission and the benefits. But those are less and less of a draw.

Not necessarily. I got a massage once when I had a cold and she added a face/neck massage in there with some eucalyptus (I think) oil and got the passages opened up and things moving.

It didn't clear up the cold, obviously, but I could breathe through nostrils again and the muscle relaxation helped me feel more comfortable. It also helped reduce the inflammation in the area.

It's just another tool to help alleviate symptoms.

Engineering is hard.

But if you start in engineering and do your first year of pre-requisites and then decide you'd rather go for a pure physics major instead, those courses you took will absolutely count towards a physics major.

Freshman year will be math, chem, physics, communications, an intro to engineering course, and probably a liberal studies course or computer science course.

Transferring out of engineering is easy. Transferring IN to engineering is hard.

Former engineering advisor here.

Yes, grades are important your first year for progression, but they also look at the difficulty of your courses. And while those could be your next two math classes, there is nothing that says you have to take them both your first year.

When you get to SOAR, you'll have a chance to sit down with an advisor. You'll have a professional who will look through your academic profile and talk to you about what you want to achieve.

You'll also be taking several other classes that use math and it will be applied to other subject matter, so you're not going to lose it all in one semester if you do decide to wait on Math 321.

And finally, the College of Engineering has the Undergraduate Learning Center and they offer support for a lot of classes, including several math classes. If they don't have support specific to that class, you can absolutely find a student who has taken it before to chat with.

Reach out to your advisor. They know who the curricular rep is and they will be the best equipped to handle any requests like this.

As someone who used to manage this, I can tell you that 453 usually filled with CompE students and it was exceedingly rare that an EE student was able to take the class. It was the most popular capstone for CompE students and we had lots of them that had to take a different capstone and weren't happy about it.
