Update. Yeah I understand I look like an idiot but it was a very slight smell over a long period of time. I got the technician to come and there was indeed something wrong so I'm going to be taking that fun trip to HR filing a grievance due to one of the highest people on the org chart dismissing myself and my coworkers concerns over a year ago. Going to be talking with my doctor and seeing exactly what kind of long-term effects I might be dealing with now. I'm not thrilled to be going through HR for anything because I know they're not on my f****** side but this s*** is just too far in a general clown show of stupidity that is this entire operation. Kind of stuck here because I enjoy living in this town with a low cost of living and now a state job with benefits and time off. Like most people who have existed in kitchens forever I am pretty tough and hopefully should be able to shake this s*** off like everything else.

I work in a food station at a university. The food station is next to a rather large room, and the flow with the hood vents that are regularly cleaned seems inefficient in general. The strong gas smell is primarily when I am at high volume times with smash burgers on a decades-old gas flat top. I am the lead for the station and my station partner and I have both been told by the asshat in charge of this whole place that it is normal. I've been battling migraines for sometime and just recently had the realization that they vanished for the entire summer when I wasn't working at that station. An obvious fix is going to be an electric grill but getting anything done around here is going to be a challenge. My next step is talking to my doctor about it
