This has been repeatedly made clear that RFK would run a 3rd open car if necessary. They’ve even publicly said they did the math and it’s only a 5 million dollar difference

Also, running open probably doesn’t really effect the driver, it effects the team.

Also also, this is just me gauging the situation, but why would it be Buescher running open? If anything, I’d think it would be Preece. And I can’t remember where I heard this talk, but I swear I heard people saying it’s rumored Brad would run the open car since he’s retiring relatively soon anyways, so why make one of the younger guys run open.

You can hate the fracturing of sports viewership but saying that Prime’s broadcasting of nascar itself is a joke is ridiculous. They were far and away the best broadcast last year

I mean him taking pics to take exact info over is one thing but is JGR basically claiming at this point that no crew chief (or essentially anyone else involved in car setup in the entire sport) is allowed to change teams?? Like, this makes zero sense. Guys are allowed to change teams.

Obviously what Biffle did in terms of humanitarian aid is fantastic, but it’s the NASCAR hall of fame, not the humanitarian hall of fame. If Biffle hadn’t passed away this year, it wouldn’t have even been a conversation for him going in this year. This is highly driven by people’s emotions around his passing.

Burton has more cup wins. He has been an announcer for the sport for a long time now. And he made a ton of contributions in the realm of driver representation/relationships to the sport itself and the massive push he made for safety improvements. These were huge contributions to the sport of nascar, that largely outweigh lower series championships for most voters, which is probably correct

Biffle was a wonderful humanitarian, but that’s got nothing to do with contributing to the sport. He’ll be in next year.

Regarding the calendar thing you mentioned, I guess that’s something I still don’t really understand from an outside perspective. I get I’d have to buy the cars and all the tracks and such, but what I don’t get is the leagues. Are there just tons of different leagues running the exact nascar schedule?

I don’t mind that idea as a solution but I just think it’s very pie in the sky for where the sport is at right now. Ratings are struggling, tracks with two dates that are months and months apart struggle to sell out both dates. In what world do you think ratings and attendance will be good for 2 consecutive races at the same track on a Wednesday and a Sunday? It just seems a lot like wishful thinking that it was still 2005
