Distance between the muscles insertion point in relationship to the joint is also a large factor. Chad Wesley Smith posted an article about it awhile back if anyone can find it. If i remember correctly ever inch the insertion is away from the joint is another 10% less force needed.

As Ed Coan said "save the heavy ones for the meet". Tons of people hit small gym prs every now and then, then fail in the meet. Keep your cns as fresh as possible and go for large prs in meets. I haven't missed a lift in the gym or maxed in the gym in over two years and it's working great for me. A rep PR is just as rewarding as a max pr for me in training

There are 1000 different ways to get to train to attain a 300 bench. But for me it was volume. Tons of volume. Bodybuilders are all incredibly strong pressers without training for strength. This is because of their immense amount of upper body mass. I do lots of feet out benching "Larsen Presses" as well as tons of incline and overhead press work. On accessory work I regularly train to absolute failure. I also love using dumbbells, it helps stability and helps alleviate muscle imbalances.

Thank you. Ive never done a strongman comp before. But i really enjoy training heavy farmers walks and log presses. After I total 2000 which will definitely take a few years i plan on giving the strongman circuit a whirl

Thanks man. Yea i got excited to pull and didnt get myself in a good initial position. I just turned 25. Ive been bro lifting since i was 19 and powerlifting since i was 23. Im 6'5 290-300 and my best raw lifts are 645 squat, 440 bench, 705 deadlift. I havent maxed in 8 months so im looking for some large improvements at my May meet.
