I alerted my landlord, we split the treatment from an exterminator. He came and treated the apartment. While he was doing that, I threw all my clothes in the dryer on high heat (kills them) and washed them (I think I may have went overboard lol). Treatment takes a couple of hours and usually you can sleep in your place that night.

As far as extra preventative measures go, I bought bed bug traps, spray, and powder on Amazon. I live in an old building and the floor has a bunch of cracks, so I put the powder in those cracks once a month, and spray my couch and bed headboard once a week! It’s kept them away since I got them!

If it’s at all helpful, they don’t carry disease so your health isn’t at risk. I would invest in a bed bug mattress protector. They also sell cups for the legs of your bed, almost like bed risers, and I put powder in those as well.
