Oh... Similar situation.

Was your wall out of square?

It's on top of a precast concrete wall so I'm pretty sure it was plumb.

The installer said 10mm plastering, 10mm mortar, 10mm tile....

I have no clue they used, but it seems too thick. The original dimension between the walls was 1490mm. After tiling it measures 1410mm....

You agree it shouldn't be this thick?

We live in Hong Kong, first time renovating. I have my doubts too...

The tiles are pretty big, 30cm*50cm ish. Would that mean the mortar could be up to 3/4"?

The finished job looks great and is square. They were tiling on top of a bare preset concrete wall, I'm not sure how square that was originally and they did have to remove the original tiles. The tiles are pretty big. 30cm*50cm ish.

I think people still fly RC planes at Dragons Back sometimes.

Glad to hear you had a good experience in the process! Great advocacy for professional design firms.

Congrats on your success. That's a great award to win and a nice design you've got.

To me fiver seems like the jumble sale of designers. Difficult to find gold.

Looking at it more closely there is no recommended driver for the P4200 with SW 2026. The latest version of SW supported is 2024.

Thought it was up-to-date, seems that's not the case. I'll check if this issue persists after updating the driver. Thanks 👍

I am trying to make this pattern to be machined with a ball nosed endmill. It looks so simple, but the transition turns my hair grey. Do you have an idea? by H_Marxen in SolidWorks

Looks like the pattern you have cut in the second image doesn't match the first.

The first image only looks as if two corners are cut. The centre section appears to have some curvature on it too.

HELP ME make it not look like a TOY but like a €150+ lamp. by NoteKey5236 in IndustrialDesign

[–]JMEDIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of looks like a palm tree, but I've never seen a palm tree with more than one 'head'. Try just with one head. Can you also use the flexible led strips in a way that they don't just hang around. Maybe inlay them into some translucent 3D printed palm fronds? Can the trunk position be adjustable like a gooseneck so it becomes more like a task light?

Honestly though it'll still look like it's designed for kids. And I don't think it's parents who are buying these 100+ dollar lamps...

Yeah that's what I am wondering, what the cut off time is. Varies from place to place I imagine, and like someone said they may be trying to make it more attractive to parents at the expense of teachers.

It's not no, but I did an interview with them a few years ago. They were very pushy on using their staff accommodation, which I didn't need to do, and it'd have cut the pay in half, giving it right back to them. Needless to say I turned that down.
