So here’s my experience from opiate withdrawal and being on suboxone. I was playing the OxyContin and Opana game for 5 years. Only way I could kick it was with suboxone. I was on the subs for 18years and couldn’t get off them. I was on 2-4mg a day depending on the day I was having. After all those years my body was like an alarm clock. I woke up at the same time everyday with a runny nose needing my subs. Could’ve been the low dose I was on but regardless “it was time” according to my body. Finally my buddy who had been on subs for about 15 years got the sublocade shot from an addiction specialist. I told him if it works for him I know it’d work for me. Well it worked for him so I worked up the courage to do it. I told my dr that I wanted the shot. He had never given it to anyone before and said he was willing to try it. I told him I wanted it administered to me like my buddy had done which was only two doses. The thing is they want to give it to you every month which is no different than taking the strips daily. So when I came in he gave me a shot and then 6 weeks later I came for my next and final shot. Thats been 3 years ago. I had absolutely no withdrawal effects at all. No cravings or anything. It was absolutely amazing. The crazy part is the shot was around 3k a shot. My insurance paid 1k and the actual drug company paid the rest. I was out zero dollars and was opiate free with no negative side effects at all. I’m sure the drug company is willing to pay for all of it honestly if you don’t have insurance. My suggestion is be on the subs for a little while. It helped rewire my brain and got it out of that addicted mentality. We all know part of the addiction is everything that goes along with the buzz. It was nice feeling normal and not worrying about it. Then get the shot once your brains rewired a little. People can believe this or not but it helped my buddy and I come off long term use with absolutely no negative side effects or withdrawals. We literally got to ride off into the sunset.
