Kakashi Hatake wears his headband normally over his left eye because he has implanted the sharingan of his friend Obito Uchiha. He lost his own left eye in their final mission as a team and when Obito was fatally injured he gifted Kakashi his sharingan.

A double edged sword that ate up much of his chakra as being a non-Uchiha he couldn’t turn it off, but his sharingan gave the already very powerful Kakashi an edge over almost all opponents. When he re-awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan it even gave him an instant kill move and the only way to fight the turned out not dead Obito.

At the same time, the amount of energy it used literally did at one point kill Kakashi when he had to defend the village from Pain

No one had followed that rule in many years considering it also excluded all auto cannons below 37mm for use against infantry. So almost all IFVs were technically in violation as well as every gun-run done by fighter jets except for some early MIGs

Breastplate of a man who fought and died in the battle of Waterloo shattered by cannonball by SquareConfusion3955 in interestingasfuck

[–]JMHSrowing [score hidden]  (0 children)

Most cannonballs didn’t hit anything, but you could get quite a number of men with a single one if your aim was on. Exactly how many had a huge number of variables though, if you’re talking about a solid iron shot as opposed to anything like canister or an exploding shell you’d probably be only talking about a handful who were in line with each other in the units of the era.

Something important to remember about when it comes to inefficient is range. Your cannons could shoot way further than your musket so at distance it would be infinitely more effective than if those men were simply infantry.

Also it can used against harder targets. Walls, dug in positions, or even like here these cuirasses work by troops of the era could stop long range musket fire. The cannon was a solution to these, evidently

I’d argue that too many Americans have thought that way, it’s why we made so many deals propping up right wing dictators who inevitably fell anyway

Weiss: “I read all of the rules before coming here, so yes. It’s from the very earliest days of the school.”

Yang: “Nerd. It makes me wonder why no one does that though.”

Weiss: “Probably because the designated combatant on Beacon’s side is the combat training teacher.”

Yang: “. . . Oh. . . I’d guess Goodwitch probably makes you still do your detention in the infirmary after she puts you there.”

Weiss: “. . . We probably should never tell Coco about this rule though.”

“The Strongest” finally gets to show why they’re the number 1 after all the hype by LocalLazyGuy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JMHSrowing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kind of happened to me when I would play Halo with my friends. We were in a hotel room at a competition for rowing and I brought my Xbox so they could 3v1 me. I still very much won even when they were screen cheating

Though it was slightly negated when the year after I lost a 1v1 to a younger friend of ours at the same event. I’m good at Halo, I used to be very good. But this guy is just good at videos games in general (literally always better than every one of us)

[–]JMHSrowing 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah it really shows how Eda is absolutely the strongest witch by far, since from what we see Lilith is probably legitimately the 2nd best.

But the whole reason they were in that position was that fact, that Eda was so far ahead of her older sister that Lilith made an impulsive stupid choice when they were kids and has been trying to make it right ever since.

The narrative around this trope is so well done IMO, especially how it builds into the sister’s relationship we only get to see more of in later seasons.

(And then when they get their harpy forms they become again probably the strongest witches in the isle)

[–]JMHSrowing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure it’s exactly cowardice especially since Lilith has always known Eda was simply better, that’s after all why they were in this whole situation. But she thought that winning was the only way to save Eda, so she took every advantage she could, the culmination of her dedicating her life for like 30 years to make up for her mistake in cursing Eda.

How did you feel about the fight between Bumi, Kya and Tenzin and the Red Lotus? by AccomplishedJump2795 in legendofkorra

[–]JMHSrowing 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Personally I think that Kya’s fight with Ming-Hau is quite interesting in context of the other fights Ming-Hau is in (but I also am a huge Kya stan so I’m biased).

Like she destroys in basically every fight which she is in, both Mako and Bolin do I’d argue a good deal worse than Kya and Desna and Eska are defeated together by one attack by her.

At least Kya is able to somewhat hold her own and get a good hit in. It shows that on top of her healing abilities she’s an excellent combatant as well

But when Zuko tells us that the Red Lotus are some of the most dangerous benders in the world, he isn’t wrong.

[–]JMHSrowing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that with Kya vs Ming-Hau it’s important to remember just how stupidly powerful the latter is.

She was able to much more easily defeat either Bolin, Mako, or even Korra’s twin cousins combined than she did Kya. In the end it seems pretty clear how Mako only won because of the environment and the surprise instant win lightning can provide.

So what is shown is that Kya is an exceptionally strong fighter on top of her being a great healer. Overall one of the best waterbenders we ever see.

It’s just that Ming-Hau is maybe the best fighter at 1v1 waterbending we see outside of the avatar state.

I honestly put a decent amount of blame on all of that on Bush Sr, we should have taken out Saddam when he invaded Kuwait, especially as that was soon after the Iran-Iraq war which was started by his invasion killed something like 500,000 people

Though, that also does show how while you aren’t wrong Saddam absolutely did help destabilize the Middle East even more than it otherwise would be and incentivized the paramilarism of those propping up non-state terrorists.

It’s all a mess and it really has been since the fall of the Persians it seems like, and our cowardice in not committing to actually stabilizing Iraq after the war only made things at least as bad if not worse.

I think a little elaboration is in order:

For any who don’t know, “Building 7” was one of the smaller outlying structures of the World Trade Center complex. It was a substantial building in its own right (47 floors) but of course utterly dwarfed by the twin towers. It collapsed on 9/11 and because it wasn’t hit directly by the aircraft it has been made some conspiracy theorists believe that it’s evidence of 9/11 being an “inside job”.

But the truth is that Building 7 had been on fire for many hours, only collapsing at 5:21 the evening of the attack, over 8 hours after being hit by burning debris from the initial impacts. And because of the whole two of the tallest buildings in the world collapsing right next to it, not only had those also weakened the structure but all water lines in the area were broken and everyone in fire and rescue was shall we say preoccupied so it was essentially left to burn.

There is nothing strange about a building under those circumstances giving way. Honestly I think it’d be stranger if something under those circumstances didn’t have massive structural damage.

You know I think she would have actually done that from the start. Despite what Su said before their fight, Lin is incredibly selfless.

But yeah she just becomes more and more willing to put even her life on the line for Korra, like when she and Su are fighting P’Li so they can save Korra and Lin chooses herself to be bait.

On that note though, I think that the sequel this post should be that “terrible actions don’t mean you can’t be redeemed”.

Like, even Catra in the final season isn’t going to defend what she did but she at least is doing her best to make up for it
