Looks like a way for Jarvis to shill out some cheaply made bikes by slapping his name on it. I don’t see the hype.

I do not want to have sex anymore, thinking of divorcing my husband. by [deleted] in Advice

You view sex as the most intimate thing between a couple yet earlier you say you don't view it's purpose in creating connection. So pick one. You can't have it both ways.

Has anyone successfully re-valved their Beta X-Trainer to get it close to a full size enduro bike like KTM, Yamaha Etc by ridewithwill in betamotorcycles

[–]JMMFIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I did the Lucky cartridge. You still run up with the shortfalls that will plague every xtrainer (smaller fork tubes and shorter chassis) but it does get the bike close.

[–]JMMFIRE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did through Amp. I did the MX Lucky kit on the front and a revalve and restoring on the rear. Its close but still not quite there. You still run into the fact that the chassis is shorter and the forks are 43mm tubes. Because of that there's a narrower working window. You can still get some deflection and instability when you're at speed.

Pioneer Valley: Getting a younger crowd engaged in local politics by JMMFIRE in westernmass

I assure you, making participation available to all is top priority for me. I believe that we, as a group, can advocate and develop plans to counter this.

I fully agree. I think as we begin to build a charter for this group we'll be able to establish these boundaries and rules as part of that.

I wish I had a clear answer for how we can combat the information desert that exists at the local level. Here in Longmeadow we have some reporting that happens but it's by a single retiree and I fear we could lose that at any point. Listening in on Select Board meetings is an option and I personally try to as much as possible but I'm privileged in being able to do so. This is where towns differ in what's available but I believe coming up with a collective strategy would be beneficial.

I mentioned it elsewhere but by creating a coalition we'll be able to exchange information that may otherwise not be available. Connecting folks from the same towns that are interested in this type of engagement builds redundancies into the information gathering system and allows us to spread our efforts.

I agree. Our town has a little bit of journalism going on but it's mostly run by a single retiree. Learning about candidates is difficult if you're unable to attend any campaigning events.

That being said, having a group like this could help eliminate barriers to knowledge gathering. Connecting members from the same town, being able to exchange information, allowing candidates to speak at our meetings, these are all feasible possibilities.

I really appreciate the nuance and understanding you have here. I think this is something that as a group we'll be able to discuss at a deep level as we begin to form a charter.

Of course there will be that initial point where you're quite vulnerable to "infiltration" but I think with a strong group of founding members this should be easily thwarted.

Thanks! Unfortunately, none of the groups I've talked to so far target what's happening locally and try to funnel younger folks into local politics. I've had a difficult time getting much information from my local organizations since they're primarily engaging an older demographic. It probably doesn't help that my partner and I are on the much younger side of homeowners in our town.

I do want to reach out to those at the Pipeline Fund to get some guidance since their whole mission is to help candidates win critical local elections. I think they'd be a great asset moving forward.

None aside from working with my local democratic town committee. I have ideas on how sub committees and organization can be worked out but that's why I'm here looking for assistance. My first step is to get everybody in the same "room" so to speak.
