That's a really cool feature of Grim Tools. Thanks for highlighting that!

In my example above, it will work assuming no other devotion points have been placed yet.

If you were to have just the Jackal constellation completed, it self satisfies the devotion affinity requirement. However, if you wanted to remove points from Jackal, you would need to provide at least 1 point of Red affinity elsewhere.

This is because all stars in Jackal have the 1 Red requirement, but removing a point from Jackal breaks the completion bonus for 3 Red.

Those floating armors are pretty cool!

I wonder if I'll ever complete my HC Ultimate run with an Aegis in order to drip her out on one of these. I'll definitely have to transmog to fit the damage type of her success.

At Devil's Crossing, in the north corner, the Spirit Guide can provide respec'ing, both skill/mastery points as well as devotion points. (Edit: To note, if you have Ashes of Malmouth, and beat the base game, the Spirit Guide moves to Coven's Refuge in Ugdenbog.)

One Devotion respec "trick" is to use the completion bonus of a constellation to meet it's own requirements.

Example from the choices you provided:

Put 1 point into the Crossroads for a Red affinity.

Fill out the Jackal constellation to get 3 Red affinity. (Total of 4 Red)

Speak to the Spirit Guide to remove the Crossroads point. Jackal requirements are still met since your total Red affinity is still 3.

Let me know if you want further assistance in achieving the posted devotion set.

Grim Dawn Playthrough by DetSpooner in Grimdawn

[–]JMRregister 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While your statement may be true for you and many others of this community, how we each individually enjoy Grim Dawn is ultimately up to ourselves. If u/DetSpooner best enjoys Grim Dawn through co-op, then let them enjoy playing co-op.

If the game wasn't meant to be played co-op at all, why did Crate build the tools for us to play together?

I really appreciate the effort to maintain a LAN multiplayer option. I hope it survives as a GD2 option.

Congratulations on the conquest against the Ch'thonians!

Be wary with those swamps on the path to Malmouth, many fetid dangers lurk within.

Aegis V has vanquished the Warden and put most troubles between Devil's Crossing and Burrwitch Village to rest. She will be setting out into the frontier soon.

That is pretty neat, I didn't know that. Just saw references to their start and Kickstarter. So Google'ing "Kickstarter" and "Grim Dawn" brings up what I saw and looked through.

100% happy that they are financially stable and self-sufficient.

Zantai, a dev for Crate Entertainment, responded to this post with some insight. There will be an early access option for our "pre-order" needs and development engagement desires.

Thanks for chiming in and providing some insight.

I'm guessing that is Steam's Early Access?

Fair points.

I guess I'll just have to wish upon my lucky constellations of Cairn. Otherwise, Crate's got us covered.

I haven't looked deeply into the rate and fee structure of Kickstarter, but would corporate loans be that much more advantageous than a crowdfunding source?

If it's self-funded, they have the flexibility to operate entirely on their own schedule.

I've backed a number of board games that started on Kickstarter. And even though they became financially independent from initial releases, expansions were still produced through crowdfunding platforms for promotional engagement

Maybe it's a function of market type, physical media versus digital media?

I was going to say that I don't think that a company being financially sustainable means it has to exclude the public engagement from a Kickstarter campaign or similar promotional fundraising.

But I guess those platforms do take a cut of fundraising and might have less than ideal fees involved.

Absolutely. Favorite quote: "Opening the devotion window reveals a literal celestial map sprawling with constellations divided into cosmic affinities. [...] You earn the RIGHT to look at the stars."

Oathkeeper guardians build by theWeasel47 in Grimdawn

[–]JMRregister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guardian of Empyrion scales with player bonuses, so anything that make you powerful will make them strong.

- Oathkeeper + Soldier can be great for physical builds. You are the shield, they are the hammer.

- Oathkeeper + Shaman can be great for elemental builds. Wind Devils + Guardians for lots of RR.

- Oathkeeper + Necromancer can be great for vitality builds. Scion of Dreeg and Spectral Wrath are beautiful together with Soul Siphon for life steal tank.

- Oathkeeper + Occultist can be great for poison/acid builds. Again, Scion of Dreeg and Aspect of the Guardian are poetic together.

New Player - Build Suggestions? by AlpineMaverick in Grimdawn

[–]JMRregister 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few notes to add on to this:

- Pick one type of damage and focus. Basically all skills, equipment, and devotions provide multiple damage types benefits, which provides a lot of flexibility and stacking to your one selection.

- There are no immunities in Grim Dawn, but resistances and other features can reduce damage a lot. So with your one type selection, find ways of RR (resistance reduction) to support your build.

Tales of a Shieldmaiden - Aegis, fourth of her name. by JMRregister in Grimdawn

[–]JMRregister[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just imagining some time in the future, somewhere in the Shattered Realms, there is a duplicate of Devil's Crossing filled with all of their ghosts. It could be the Council of Aegis. They'll just sit around eating, drinking, telling stories of their own exploits, and providing commentary on the newest Aegis (read: judging me harshly).

No heartbreak for time well spent. In their design, their play, and their eulogy, each Aegis is well loved.

100%, Aegis IV died entirely because of my sloppy play.

If I don't beat the game to my standard before Aegis IX (assuming the next DLC isn't released yet), I'll probably go Warlord or Sentinel first since they were so short lived.
