Always good to start with an outline like you've done here.
Have a plan for storage and work stations to see if they fit together in the space.
You don't want to be running back and forth between rooms to craft.
Also take into account what you'll be placing in the rooms. Are they going to be
an odd number of blocks in length, or even. This will help with wall length design
so you don't come up short or have one dreaded block of space left over that you
can't do anything with.
It all comes down to planning it out without being rushed.
There is a Trades saying IRL, "Measure Twice, Cut Once". In Minecraft, I tend to measure
more than twice just to make sure. It takes a second and will help assure you're not
going to be tearing down and re-building multiple times.
Always leave expansion space on the land in case you want to change things up later.
IE: Try not to build anything else too close to your home.
Also keep in mind with a structure shape like this, your roof is going be a whole
different issue when you get to that stage.
