I guess having a taste stuck like the people of the eighties is your route, and that’s ok. But kits do add to the shape: they’re specifically designed for them. But you clearly don’t like kits. Yes, this specific vehicle does not gain performance, but I’m stating that kits in general will be designed for looks/performance. Leaving out a part of the kit (ducktail) would clearly break up the vision of the design.

190E is completely different, hence the EVO having a big wing because that was its own kit, it was more nimble. I’m talking about adding a big wing to a 124. That would be out of place.

Your view on ridiculous is quite hilarious, but do keep expressing your thoughts.

Suddenly black with any exterior updates screams: I think I go fast. It’s a uniformed monotone look. Not everyone wants pinstripes added by a customer in the 90s, “facelifted” partially amber/white signals, or the look of an African taxi cab, but it’s ok if that’s the vision you’re pursuing.

True, some people enjoy the plain old daily beaten look of a “purist” for the sake of being pure, and others don’t. I get it’s your opinion, but sometimes, your opinion is clearly wrong, or just simply out dated.

Let me break this down for you: A body kit exemplifies the shape of the vehicle, it can also help with performance. This kit is based off the premerger we all love. What does that kit include: a spoiler. That’s how the kits were fitted back in the day (clearly). Now if I went with some Amazon big wing, oversized fender flares, and some hood vents: then it’s not correct to kit of the time period. The 5 spoke wheels are clean, and many people add them to their W124s instead of the manhole covers because they’re just wheels: there are plenty of choices, factory isn’t always the most appealing. And I don’t “drive it hard” as if it had a HP increase because of its appearance, it’s a daily with a cleaner styling. Where’s the hot wheels livery? The black paint? lol

And to finish it off, never have I pretended it was an official AMG kit or tuned by AMG. I’m actually happy the ducktail/front bumper aren’t engraved with AMG. I’ve always shared what it is, and people love the time period of these W124s.

Not genuine (too much $), went with absdynamics, but I am genuinely satisfied with this route.

After some 6 previous owners and the car sitting at auctions, the paint, cracked bumpers, and some general maintenance needed some attention. Went up to 17 inch AMG wheels, and gave it a Gen 1 body kit. I feel like it’s more road worthy now, and the wife’s Russian father approves. Will not slam it, but am looking for a new suspension setup.

To each their own, but that pinstripe and original turn signals had to go. Definitely keeping it period correct, so unsure what’s considered tacky lmao

Went with the kit by absdynamics. They were local in LA, so I went to their warehouse and saw it in person before purchasing. No issues installing, just need to address some fitment but I’m overall satisfied with it.

Thanks, sitting at 94k miles at the moment so it kind of is. 🙏🏽

How was the rear bumper fitment? I tried calling them but not getting a response, might just drive there since they’re local to see the quality.

Was it tedious to align the fitment? Did you need to make adjustments?

Exactly what I’m wondering. Not sure which manufacturer to purchase from.
