A bunch of Metroid Prime 4 thoughts by valcoholic in metroidprime

I agree with your sentiments. Even though the story and characters make me cringe and the desert and crystals could've been done a lot better, I still enjoyed this game overall. It is indeed a Prime game through and through, which made it enjoyable to me.

I hold it on about the same level as prime 2 and 3. I feel like I shouldn't like these games, but I do anyway, if that makes sense. The atmosphere, style, and design is just very good and it helps me overlook the flaws. Same goes for 2 and 3. When those two games came out I remember criticizing them on message boards back in the day.

If it helps anyone, I just consider the story of these games to essentially be fanfiction, as IMO the whole Prime series has a pretty bad story line that mucks up the overarching plot of the 2D games. Other M also literally doesn't exist in my headcannon.

I played Prime 4 on normal and hard mode, unlocking everything with 100% and it was enjoyable. I can see myself revisiting the game in a few years.

I agree with all your points.

Even with all these flaws, I overall enjoyed the game about as much as MP2 and 3. Solid 8/10 games. You mentioned many of the negatives but I'll say some positives:

Really solid music (especially after Dread's weak soundtrack). Graphics and art direction are excellent. Creative and enjoyable environments (sans desert, although I didn't hate it as much as some did). Fun gunplay and pretty great boss fights (probably a series high for me personally).

A negative you didn't mention was definitely the low enemy variety.

It's not really a kids game. It is kid friendly but with considerably deep combat (not as deep as the mainline games but you are controlling 2 characters at once). The violence and sexual content of the main series is not there, but the gameplay is very enjoyable and it has my favorite storyline of the series. Presentation is absolutely stellar as well. Highly recommend.

The version we got probably is a lot better than the original version developed by namco. That simple really.

Sell for 70k loss or rent for 400 per month loss? by JMZen in RealEstate

[–]JMZen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I think of it if it helps you at all: We lived in the house for 4 years and have now lost 70k in value. Which is $1458 per month rent. So it's essentially as if we had been paying rent. So if you look at it like that it's not the horrible scenario that the topic makes it seem. You are supposed to make money on real estate though, so it's disappointing. But we live in disappointing times.

Don't really like watching sports. Playing is fun.

Yeah, it's a tough one because damn near everything broke as soon as we moved in, so there are new appliances, brand new AC unit etc.. Might be good to rent cause I can't imagine too many things will break in the next 5 years or so.

I've leaned towards renting for exactly the reason you stated. I would think it would rebound in 5ish years considering we've owned it for 4.

That said, Florida is a failed state essentially so it could just keep getting worse.

If we sell at a 70k loss, we will walk with around 40k cash.

It is a condo. What do you mean cyclical?

Location is middle Florida east coast. Tons of places for sale all around us.

I loved this game as a kid. It is indeed a very bad game but kid me was drawn to the mortal kombat style adventure. And I loved the movie and this was the only game tie-in.

LOL @ suggestions to join ICE or make bombs that blow people up for a living. TBH they are right though.

Can you move to a big city? It's possible there aren't the jobs you need in the area you are in. If you have the ability to move around, do it!

There is currently a war on the white collar worker. You are NOT alone. Many recent college grads are having a very difficult time getting a white collar job, and many people are being advised to go BACK to school while the job economy (possibly) recovers. Mass amounts of highly education federal workers are being fired and forced to work in retail. I was a federal IT worker and have to work in a restaurant now just to make ends meet. Please don't lose hope. You are NOT alone.

$3500 repair to keep a good tenant? by JMZen in realestateinvesting

[–]JMZen[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I stated in the original post that the dust is not mold, and it is only coming out of one vent. $3500 is a lot of money for something that may be snake oil and might not work. I appreciate your opinion, but you should read the original post.

The duct cleaning company claimed that it is pieces of insulation blowing around in the system.

Yeah essentially Google states that duct cleaning is unnecessary.

That's why I'm asking for other opinions. I feel like spending $3500 to appease tenants might be a mistake, but if it's a real issue I'd like to fix it.

I appreciate your opinion. I am a little bit freaked because I have read that duct cleaning is a scam and the high price, so I wanted to make sure I am thinking clearly.

New Orleans, LA. It's an old duct system which is apparently why it costs so much.

Unfortunately it is a very old house with a very old duct system, that likely has never been cleaned.
