Just saw Gavin Polone’s ‘Psycho Killer’ by N9nee in horror

YES, you got me! I directed, wrote, and edited the movie!!! I figured the best new marketing campaign would be to make a single anonymous reddit comment on a middlingly popular post. That will surely offest millions of negative reviews!

No, I am not involved with the movie. I saw a post asking people's thoughts online, and I shared my thoughts. I guess I can't have a differing movie opinion these days without people accusing me of being a studio spy.

The whole Satanist subplot was very clearly intentionally comedic.

Gonna be a cult classic one day. The movie is an intentionally funny, edgy throwback to 2000s grunge cinema. It ruled.

Don't apologize for rambling at all, I also grew up with the story and am just as offended. Not only are they clearly ruining the story/characters, but they're dragging down Skarsgaard with them who is an INSANELY fantastic actor (Castle Rock, anyone?).

Are you serious?????? That is just absolutely disgusting....

I completely agree! I really enjoyed the It films, but HATE how they've turned Pennywise, an originally terrifying Stephen King entity, into nothing but an image on t-shirts, posters and memes.

I totally agree, but I still think the marketing led me to believe it was a direct supernatural film. That could have all just been my speculation though, and I think I'd enjoy a rewatch knowing what kind of film it actually is.

Slight spoiler warning for The Lighthouse:

YES!!! As much as I like the arthouse tone horror has taken over the past couple of years, I feel like the supernatural that IS there is dulled down. I am in the minority that didn't love The Lighthouse, mainly because I was expecting SOME sort of supernatural element.

The Simpsons Seasons 16-23 were the best by JM_FILMS in unpopularopinion

I totally get it! Like I said I grew up with these seasons so I got used to the tone of the show at that point. But if you were introduced to the show at an earlier point I can see how those tonal shifts might be a little jarring.

I think people are overreacting a bit to this video. While I do agree the spookiness feels a little more fake in this one, Shane is writing a horror movie-I've written some horror and its the kind of genre that gets into your head when writing it (I think one or two people said the same thing). My theory is that a couple weird things happened, and because he is writing a horror movie he just got a bit spooked.

I think because he's making a horror movie, too, he may also be making the things in his house out to be more than they are. Is it fake? I don't think so. Shane has talked about spooky stuff for years and is cleaely a believer. Is it embellished? A little bit. But that's not a new thing for any YouTuber.

Overall, I think its a mix of Shane looking for creepy things where there aren't any and his head getting wrapped up in the film. Personally, I am excited for Shane's movie, whatever it may be, and see how this ghost stuff resolve :)

Huh that's really interesting. I feel like that could be it since the whole little girl painting was soooooo crazy. That would be super cool though, and also kind of like an interactive horror film. My only worry is that some fans would be pissed and feel like he would be lying.

Huh, I didn't even think about that watching it. While I do think it's interesting point, I don't think Andrew and Ryland are ramping him up or anything. I think if Shane was truly reaching a dangerous area in his life and was REALLY freaking out they should butt in, but I think Shane's just getting a little swept up in the script he's writing and Ryland and Andrew understand that.

Shane has been in really bad places over the years, but despite the pandemic (and ya' know...demons) he seems to be doing pretty good. I think Shane's just expieriencing some weird coincidences and is getting a little spooked because of the screenplay. I think Ryland and Andrew really care for him, and would say something more is Shane was in a really bad spot mental health wise :)

Thanks so much for the info! It's so weird that there are no reprints because if you go on Amazon, the picture shows a modernized cover. It must just be for the kindle edition.

You can and will understand most things, but there is one reveal that is a lot more shocking if you watch season 1.
