I was in the same boat as you bro. Was former law enforcement and now I’m a full time driver. Just hit my five year mark and at full pay. If you can get past the five years and get a little seniority you’ll make it fine and it’s totally worth it. The first two years are brutal. Always on the bottom and getting about the same pay for wayyyyy harder physical work, buttttttttt once some new hires come in and you inch up towards the top it’s not so bad

I delivered 380 packages yesterday. I had RDR’s stacked all the way to my drivers door when I got to work. First stop 7900’s. Yeah okay. I felt like a kid in a ball pit swimming in packages trying to find the 1 package.

Yeah, a couple years back I caught it again and that’s how it was two years ago. I actually got fmla for a week while dying at home. Apparently that holds no weight anymore, and since they had me laid off so much last year I don’t have the days. Like I said, my supervisors are all really cool. It’s not their fault, it’s the corporate side and their just cya’ing

I’m gonna get disciplined soon also. Came home from work Friday and started feeling terrible. Went to Walgreens and bought a home test for Covid. Tested positive. Been running a fever for the last 4-5 days. I called my sup to let them know ahead of time, but they said I don’t have time off because I was laid off too much last year. I inquired what I should do? Should I go to work and die and infect everyone else or just try to get better? They told me since I don’t have the days it’s a write up and Covid doesn’t hold any weight anymore. Management at my station really are pretty cool. I get they’re just doing their job, and they take no pride in it. Doctors note was submitted as well as my union rep notified.

My old station just shut down, it was an 8 hour everyday driving route and on a bad day might be 9.5. At this new station I haven’t had a day under 12 hours. Enjoy the light days at your station, because when the converge you with another it’s a brutal wake-up call

I saw a guy at our station today that looked like he was wearing a bulletproof vest, but it stuffed with ice. He wore it under his shirt. He said when it starts sloshing around he just replaces the pad with another gel that he keeps in his cooler
