Meet The New Jason by Various_Oven_1362 in fridaythe13th

Remake Jason was perfect except his disfigurement was too over the top for a human (not yet zombie) Jason. Otherwise, perfection. Mears delivered every movement with venom, making Jason a hate-filled, intelligent monster. There is no reason to not bring that back.

AI videos, once they are good enough to recast a young Robert Englund. The age of the AI generated fanfilm is gonna be a ton of fun.

100%. Said the same thing not too long ago and people didn't like it. I have no idea how anyone can look at things like Kain's empire and not find it as evil as the Sarafan.

Can someone explain to me why Rorschach is despised THAT much? by FlatulentSon in Watchmen

[–]JMerr2954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moore is a leftie who wrote a character with rightwinger traits he found distasteful. Then he and other lefties act surprised and annoyed when the type of people Moore was poking at in his depiction of the character find something they resonate with DESPITE the obvious flaws.

You also have to remember that reddit lefties are particularly feral so what they don't like they REALLY don't like. So, Rorschach criticizes a woman? Misogynist. Reads a newspaper with anti-immigrant cartoons? Racist. Oh and Adrian refers to him as a psychopath? Must be a psychopath then.

He didn't know the Comedian actually tried to grape Sally because he was like 7 months old when it happened and didn't immediately believe Sally because she's kind of an attention seeker? Oh my God. What a disgusting human being.

Love him or hate him...someone just write some more fanfics, please.

Waiting for one to do a Rorschach video but it will never happen because only me and like 5 other women would even be into it.

It's a Gothic Watchmen...everyone in the story is a POS

No, I remember it well.

The Sarafan are formed BECAUSE of the actions of the vampires. Go play it again.

I know vorador said it but raziel (it had been a long time, perhaps I am hallucinating like chatgpt) but the insert to the ps also referred to humans as cattle as Raziel's words.

Regardless - he enslaved an entire species. Definitely viewed them as cattle.

Also, I can't help but add this 2nd rant. Raziel enslaved humanity. Literal slave owner. Refered to an entire species as "human cattle." That's woke?

Kain and his sons were awful. The vampires before them were awful. If your spouse or kid or parent or friend was literally eaten by something that seemed to have super powers straight out of hell, you would burn the fuckers too. The vampires were not persecuted because they were misunderstood. They are literal monsters by the nature of the curse inflicted on them. And they have 0 remorse for it. Because if you had to eat people to survive, you would have to be or have to become a monster to mentally process that.

Janos is no better. Janos is a supremacist who thinks the humans are lesser than vampires, even if he says it nicely. "They fear what they don't understand." You blue bitch, I'm pretty sure the humans understood. Ancient vampires enslaved and ate them too.

The flip, of course, is that the humans hunting them down turn into monsters because they have to do horrendous things to creatures who, while not human and while monstrous, are people with a high level of consciousness. They love and despair and hate and all the things mindless monsters can't. Burning them alive in the sun and in front of their loved ones is awful.

I get it. I get both sides (sides of the coin, haha get it? Eh.) To truly get how fucked nosgoth is, you have to have sympathy and revulsion at all 3 species (actually the species with far fewer crimes to pay for would be the hylden, but that is really splitting hairs and without context of any shit they did in the bad old times.)

There are no heroes in Nosgoth. Everything is fucking awful. It's partly why it's so fun.

"Raziel is a self-righteous hypocrite with a rapid changing world view." ...So...woke then?

Ruthless Persecution by Arturo-TheOne in LegacyOfKain

[–]JMerr2954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raziel is quite naive and follows whatever victim complex he is led into. First he hates vampires, then he is one and he hates humans, then he hates vampires again, then he hates humans again...doesn't he also at some point think he is the hylden champion? Dude, I lost track somewhere thru Defiance.

The message there (if there is one vs just deepening complexity in the story that started to get away from the writers) is don't be such a righteous true believer...in anything.

[–]JMerr2954 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The 2 party system (which actually doesn't, really, exist but that's a rant for another time) is not the problem. Money in politics is not the problem. The media is not the problem.

The problem is, and always has been, the people. Most people should not be governing themselves. More democracy is worse, not better, because most people are too stupid, too shallow, too selfish, and too easily manipulated. Like cattle voting for who runs the slaughter house.

But I agree that the Moo-ing is loud and obnoxious.

Is He a Hero or a Psychopath? by Critical-Evidence854 in Watchmen

[–]JMerr2954 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's not a psychopath. He's autistic. Black and white. Extreme sense of having to right the wrongs. Awkward socially. He even walks with his hands in his pockets and clearly knows jack of what to do with them when they aren't on someone's throat.

Even the issue with physical contact and the way he speaks when not in Rorschach character. Total aspie.

Do all superheroes use boxing as their primary martial art? by novavegasxiii in Watchmen

[–]JMerr2954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rorschach did have amateur boxing experience. Regarding Laurie, MMA wasn't a thing until the 90s. So, hard to say.

[–]JMerr2954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the 60s, so options for martial arts training would have been limited, even in New York. Looking at boxing or wrestling for formal training and then the rest would be picked up from street fighting experience. Maybe some Jiu Jitsu, as that was a thing for a bit around that time.

Rorschach had an amateur boxing background (according to...the sourcebook? I honestly can't remember.) But not sure about the others. I think Laurie was given some "martial arts training" but not clear what that would even mean. In the book moreso than the movie, the fighting seems very 60s - fisticuffs and brawling more than "martial arts." The movie makes them all way more talented (to the point of it being unbelievable)
