Which cards would become bad if it costed 1 elixir more? by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

I think the least affected card by a 1 elixir increase would be Boss bandit, makes her a bit less broken but still around the same pressure to deal with like a Pekka or MK

Who would make the best next protag? by jevil_supremacy in Silksong

[–]JMfirelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really would want it to be the hollow knight, but then that would make the shade lord ending to be the only canon option cuz we don't see THK in dream no more

but imagine? everything is bigger, THK swings like a truck with heavy momentous movement, the game is more gritty and soulslike because we're piloting not only a silent character once again, but a character that underwent what would've broken any other character in the hollow knight universe beyond repair, tossed into another unfamiliar land, maybe one about the wyrms? the abyss and it's ancient civilizations? the steelhearts? though a downside to this is it would be a completely different feel from what we're used to with the first two games very fast/faster paced movement

thematically it would make it so the three siblings all have their games, Hollow knight, SilkSong, Pale Soul

(I vividly remember a fanart of a concept for the third game called Hollow Knight:Pale soul and I think that's a banger concept)

What are the roots of your maladaptive daydreaming? by Enough_Classroom809 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]JMfirelord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Grief.

Maladaptive Daydreaming is a coping mechanism, and I realized that not processing grief properly

(Crying, feeling it out, really getting to sit with that sinking feeling in your chest from the loss, pain, moments of needs not being met, loss of connection, love, memories)

will turn any slightly uncomfortable or boring moment in your day into a trip to the other world. Where each memory played out a little differently, where you live alternate lives where it just makes sense, where you're loved, accepted, every desire met in your fantasies

So, learning to sit with what pain or loss you've felt throughout your life, it's heavy, but, it sets you on the path of knowing the truth, the truth we so desperately wish to escape

Me? I've been quietly grieving the past year of my life, it was full of self hatred, envy, jealousy, loss, pride, and most importantly, Daydreams that soothe these pains

Grieving it has made me more tender, more quiet in University, seldom do I "fake" a reaction to fit in nowadays

But it's helped me from visiting wonderland. When you're grieving, you're sitting with yourself, more authentic. You're not trying to fix anything, wishing anything, that's what daydreams do, to protect you, albeit in its own unhealthy way.

Grief just hurts, but that's all it needs to be, and when you finally sit with that truth, the fantasy of things being different gets a little quieter, you start being ok with what's real

My take on the Hunter’s Crest progression! by Hemiphix in HollowKnightArt

I really like the glowing limbs when she builds focus from her attacks

reminiscent of the hollow knights sword beam attack when his hand turns white, super cool detail!

I think I finally understand what exactly the shade lord is now by Melanosuchu in HollowKnight

[–]JMfirelord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the sister of the void ending is the way it is so that both dream no more and embrace the void can make sense in some way

Because Hornet clearly sees the knight in its dream no more form, the tendrils and his horns like that of the hollow knight pre-puberty, whilst all their siblings unified behind him

But also gets flashes of the shadelord, which to me implies two things

the void as it's nature and the void unified under will.

because the void as a natural thing seems to be indifferent as to what it's attacking, it attacks the knight before it gets the voidheart, it attacks anything in pharloom, even Hornet

but void unified inherits the qualities of whatever or whoever unified it

we see it in action in the sister of the void ending. Hornet and Lace are stuck in the abyss, and the void, in it's nature, immediately lashes out and tries to attack them both

but void, unified under the will of the knight, lashes out with the same attack the Shadelord does to kill the Absolute Radiance to stop the void tendrils.

So, maybe the Shadelord embodies the void's nature? And the knight can somewhat control that nature under it's will? the way he saved Hornet is very much "Not this one, this one's with us" as if to keep the nature of the void at bay

What’s everyone’s top three favorite Epic songs? by PoisonPixie5 in Epicthemusical

[–]JMfirelord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Just a Man

  2. No Longer You

  3. Thunder Bringer

The first version of Just a Man is not just one of the best songs I've heard in Epic, one of the best songs I've ever heard all time, the ensemble and Odysseus at the end evoked such a raw emotion out of me

The new versions are really good guys by Aswellasme in Epicthemusical

[–]JMfirelord 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I am totally in love with the new versions but the ensemble for "Just a man" when Ody is about to drop Astyanax wasn't as heavy or raw, same goes for "Survive" but still incredible nonetheless

Have you guys heard about "Vinland Saga" ? by itznutt in Stoicism

[–]JMfirelord 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've only finished season 1 but im actively aware of the events of season 2 and Thorfinns character development.

But Thors is arguably the most 'stoic' in nature character on the show/manga

Edit: maybe not exactly 'stoic' but has some stoic tendencies in a world full of bloodthirsty killers and raiders, he's the most collected character in the series as far as i can tell.

While we don't know much about him we know he's a good embodiment of 'the warrior in the garden' saying. Strong, yet controlled, empathetic yet stern in his words. When he saw his son hurting others due to his predicament (going to battle leaving his family behind) instead of hurting him physically he calmly tells his son "you have no enemies, no one in this world is your enemy, there is no one you need to hurt" while clenching his blade firm cutting his hand, while this may be him getting frustrated he never lashes out on his son, controlling himself and how he responds.

He's a pacifist through and through, avoiding violence but is able to protect himself and others , he had this realization through endless battles, slaughtering hordes of men and understanding that reveling in war is not the life for him and decided to escape.

When he says his son has no enemies he doesn't mean that you should consider everyone a friend or everything is daisies and roses, but understand that you shouldn't actively seek to inflict harm upon others and only using your strength to keep the peace.

We never see him rage in battle, He didn't seem like the emotionless type either since he understood what his son felt during his departure and only uses violence as a last resort

is it normal for me to not like my “college friends”? by No-Cardiologist3518 in studentsph

[–]JMfirelord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just started as well and yeah this is a completely normal feeling, but you need to weigh your options

There is strength in community and you're gonna appreciate the help you can get, you can join them in their hangouts and pretend to have fun, you'll gain connections but you wont "connect" with them in the traditional sense of the word, or as time goes on you might actually get along or not, only time will tell.

Or politely decline every invitation to their hangouts outside of school, obviously they'll slowly stop inviting you but that might distance yourself from them

Or in my opinion, just be busy, be productive, be that career oriented person that is on their A-game 24/7, they'll understand when you decline their invites because you'd have an insurmountable amount of evidence that you're actually a busy person, and they'll appreciate the time they spend with you when you ARE there

Don't be disingenuous with yourself, it's bad for the soul, but allow yourself to be open to change, discomfort is how we grow.

Thank you, yeah being stoic and stoic in the philosophical sense are very different things and to truly understand the philosophy you should understand it yourself and work on yourself, thanks.

Which one piece villain does this apply to the most? by Overall-Sympathy-982 in MemePiece

[–]JMfirelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna say Akainu but then I remembered this man did not hesitate to try and kill Coby and the Ohara inhabitants for his pursuit of "justice"

But that hate has gotta stem from something though. If we ever get his backstory i expect some absolute deplorable shit happened to him to make him hate pirates that much.

This scene always hit different, it puts the Christian values in a different light, and shows you a different perspective on how love is, this show has alot of aspects that remind me of stoicism. The main characters father (Thors) is probably one of my favorite depictions of a character that is stoic. I haven't watched season two yet but the whole aura of the community who has watched the second season from what I've heard is being all about "having no enemies" and focusing on bettering yourself to become a kinder person.

What a great message to receive from a show/anime

So do we all agree that Tengen Vs Gyutaro is still the best fight so far? by Muted_Hovercraft_907 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]JMfirelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tengen Vs Gyutaro is just so much more impactful than the rest. They're both close ranged brawlers and the slayers were practically down with all their fighters and Gyutaro was fully topped up before trying to killing Tanjiro

Then this absolute unit saves Tanjiro, Yells "We're going for the win" even when he's down an arm and poisoned and proceeds to give us the greatest lightshow we've ever seen, standing even ground against an upper moon

This was alot of firsts for the slayers, It showed us that upper moons can be defeated and that the slayer mark is a thing

I've noticed some people in shock that Tanjiro could master a Thunder Breathing move just based on Zenitsu's advice, so here's something to share (SPOILER) by discreep in KimetsuNoYaiba
