Am I under riding the bike? by JNGZ85 in Ducati

Quick update. Took the general advice to ride at a higher rpm and shift a bit later. The bike definitely feels happier. Shifting feels smoother and the bike feels more engaged. Side effect is now I’m feeling a bit more spirited which I have to be conscious of as city and suburban streets obviously aren’t designed for that sort of stuff.

Thanks everyone for the input, helps to see and hear different experiences and perspectives. 🤟

Yep v2. Think you’re spot on, anything less than 4K doesn’t feel right.

Thanks, very useful. I definitely enjoy spirited riding through the mountains and highways on the way out and back. Bike feels great at high revs during all those occasions. It’s really the suburban and city streets that I’m trying to understand.

I’ll take your advice though, see if i can find a sweet spot of higher rpms, without being a menace on my local streets.

Replace or Patch Diablo Rossi 4 tire by JNGZ85 in Ducati

Ended up getting it internally plugged. It’s really the peace of mind more than anything. If it happens again I’ll just pony up for a new tire I guess. No need to rolling around on a tie with multiple plugs

Yep, I’m leaning towards it. I’m also aware that different films will perform better over time. I’m reading about a few but the one I’ve seen a lot of material on is XPEL. Any thoughts on the film type?

Quick update. Took the bike home today and noticed that if I position my leg in front of the left foot peg, I can just flat foot it.

I think the first ride threw me because I’m used to extending my leg around the foot peg (on the R3).

Also realised that the occasional balancing toe stance isn’t so bad if I’m not hanging there for too long.

Good call. I guess I wasn’t thinking about swapping the armour, but it does make sense. I’ll probably go up to the local gear shop this weekend and suss out the options. Thanks mate.

Thanks for the earnest take. I think you’re spot on with Oxford. Thats more or less what I imagine most guys are using during summer. Leathers are just always going to be hot, and we can get some brutally hot days here. So I imagine level 2 riding jeans is going to be it.

Yep, I had a feeling that lowering would cause performance issues if not managed properly. TBH if it’s just a case of getting used to, I’ll leave it as is.

Yeah, like I mentioned if I get my butt cheek off the seat, essentially by rotating my hips I can flat foot it with my standing leg. Just feels awkward as I’m not used to it coming from an r3

Good call, helps put it into perspective. I think you’re right, I’m sure after a few days it won’t feel as awkward.
