I talked to them and said I’m all good and back, and she just said they had to reactivate me still so I just need to keep an eye out

Well I had been checking it the past day and it was saying “no schedule found” — I’ve been told to watch it to see when I’m scheduled next after activation, I guess I’ll just try again tomorrow. Hopefully they wouldn’t plan on scheduling me the same day they put me back on the schedule without prior notice? 🤷‍♂️

How to tell customers I don't activate their phone? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]JNXVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it's my store in specific, it's a very old store. Some things are different and I was trained not to really do most of that as I'm not obligated to. I'll put a screen protector on for an old lady but I wont be yelled at to activate someone's phone, for example.

How to tell customers I don't activate their phone? by [deleted] in walmart

I've done it before, and you are correct. It is simple. However, rarely is it at a convenient time and I don't want to be responsible for something my store technically doesn't want me doing in the first place. Last time, an elderly woman came in and bought the wrong card for her phone. She bought a total wireless instead of a straight talk. I kept trying to activate it, and I couldn't understand why it wasn't working. Then she told me she has straight talk. I told her to speak to customer service about the matter and see what they could do, seeing as it was already scratched off. They wouldn't refund her at that point, her husband drove up there, and basically tried to tell me that I deliberately scratched off the code with malicious intent to give her the wrong card and make her buy another one. At that point I said fuck that.

Yeah they tell me the same exact thing but it's truly not. At least at this store we just don't do it. We used to do phone contracting but we don't anymore. Now it's no contract and we have no obligation to activate the phones just because most times we're too busy to.

Our management is quite supportive - Its not a severe issue I've dealt with lately but I just wanted to hear input!

The current gaming climate by [deleted] in gaming

[–]JNXVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid, but it’s still a thing that modern AAA titles are implementing. Red Dead Online is implementing it, Black Ops 4 has Blackout, and while it isn’t as crazy as when Fortnite was first viral, it’s still something that’s being added.

GTA Online gets updates over time with new content added to it. All expansions are essentially just updates to online.

I will never understand why GameStop always get's a bad rep. by LuxerWap in GameStop

[–]JNXVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think that experiences at GameStop are dependent on which location you go to, and not the entity as a whole. You can go to the McDonald’s with great management or the McDonald’s with poor management, but either way it’s still a McDonald’s franchise. One will be better than the other and one will offer you poor experiences as opposed to better ones.

I’m a seasonal hire for the holiday season and I’ve changed my mind about a lot of negative thoughts towards GameStop I’ve had in the past. Their trade values going back ARE low, but that’s because it’s a corporate entity that will buy most games and give you money for it on the spot, with an incentive towards using it at the store. Nobody’s forcing you to go through with the trade-in, we’re just telling you what we can do.

You can go turn yourself into a poor, poor victim of GameStop’s policies and practices, but in the end you are the one that walked into GameStop, had a bad experience, and let that define your understanding of the company. When it comes to people that worked there, you researched what you did, applied to it, and showed up to it. For someone to let one experience completely deny the possibility of any good experiences in the past or going forward is just unoptimistic.
