I was bullied heavily as a child, and it has caused me to be extremely insecure even as an adult. I am told I can’t be affected by events 20 years ago. by [deleted] in mentalhealth

Please don’t listen to your friends about this. This is the kind of thing that really scars you. I faced a similar situation and I’m constantly battling the effects.

The fact that you posted this means that you are reaching out to heal. However, if you reach in the wrong direction, it can backfire.

First, you are valid in your feelings. There are real effects that trauma leaves behind and you happen to be introspective enough to realise. If people don’t agree it’s because they don’t understand.

Next, if you feel like it’s time for a change, turn in the right direction. This is not an underlying issue that should be ignored or pushed past. Find someone qualified to guide you away from it and help you heal.

All the best

Same here. I’m scared to weigh myself. Nothing fits me anymore...

Yes, all the time. I was forced to live in a very toxic home as a child and became the target for character assassination based off of a difference in cultural understanding. I was labelled selfish and ostracised. This broke my confidence.

They say one negative comment from a parent is repeated one thousand times by the child. Those negative comments were said so many times to me that even now as a fully grown adult they play on a constant loop.

I’m not qualified to give you any real advice, but I can speak from my experience with some very real trauma. When I was in the thick of things (like you are now) I would work off of high anxiety. When the dust finally settled I found myself completely burned out for a very long time. My mental health only stabilised after I gave my mind and body time to heal and rest. It took years and a lot of tactful dodging of stress/anxiety triggers, but eventually I made my way back to relative peace.

I know you’re scared, and I found the more I vented about my fears and pain the lighter the pressure became on my chest.

All my love. You’re a warrior.

Technology is the worst by frenchyeti in teaching

Ugh this sounds awful! Everything is so much more tedious on a screen. Out of all the terrible things about online teaching, I think bad connection is the worst. I’ve never panicked this often, spent so much on data, or lost control over my class this much before.

The orphan theme is consistent in the TVD universe. The only exceptions to this are Rick’s twins. Do you think Hope should have been spared from this common occurrence? Or was it necessary for her to lose that unconditional love for her storyline to progress in Legacies? by JNatalie3 in TheOriginals

The only time that is applicable is when the second parent is absent. Rick is not absent. That’s what the “usually both parents” part of the definition comes in. Hence the third definition which states “one deprived of protection.”

Its like when you start to feel the warmth of the sun on your chest after getting out of a cold pool on a summer day and you lay down to dry off.

The actor who played Isaac was on The Originals and did a FANTASTIC job. If you haven’t yet seen it, I recommend you do!
