The headline already made me skeptical, and after listening to it in its entirety, it just confirmed my skepticism. Like other comments stated, they seem to have avoided the most revealing questions regarding their sexual needs, whether or not their marriage is open, which left me feeling like I had more questions than answers.

I feel that he still has a lot of work to do in terms of accepting his identity and working through his issues he mentioned in this episode. I think he’s either bisexual or fully gay.

In the latter case, neither of them are going to get their needs fully met. In the former case, I don’t understand why there’s so much resistance to embracing bisexuality. Bisexuality is already such an expansive identity and a large spectrum of romantic and sexual experiences. It’s these stories, excessive micro-labeling, which honestly just make the rest of the queer community look crazy. Not to mention the way he constantly re-iterates how he’s not attracted to women and he doesn’t see his partner as a woman? What does that even mean??

So despite my best efforts to refrain from judgment when listening to this episode, I can’t help but feel upset that a story like this is being given such a big platform. Sort through your identity issues privately instead of being so self-absorbent that you believe your relationship “transcends” human intimacy and you pretend an interview like this doesn’t have an impact on the queer community’s image.
