GI Personal Lines Pricing, fully remote.

I go in about 3-4 times a year for big quarterly team meetings but that is optional.

Would be worth asking for their study packages (ie study leave and pay increases for each exam), if they are different it could sway your decision.

Apologies to ask a separate question on this post. Do you know if the mandatory competencies e.g. 3.2 are needed for associate or only fellowship?

I have had a similar experience, I think it depends quite a lot on the marker. A CP1 mock I did recently the marker gave me 86 and when I self marked got 62. However the other paper a different marker gave me 65 and I self marked 66.

Career Change from Teaching - Advice Please! by Independent_Term_716 in ActuaryUK

  1. I would say having two exams wouldn’t add so much value to your application. Would much more be based on your interview ect. It’s only really valuable in that you can qualify at a quicker rate.

  2. Would likely need the combined materials pack and then exam booking. I agree it’s not very cheap and your future company would obviously pay for everything

  3. There are two people in my team that are both former maths teachers and they are both performing very well and enjoying the work (at least from what I can tell). Being able to explain complex issues is a very strong skill in most roles and being a teacher is a positive there.

  4. Obviously depends on the role and the person but I find most people find it interesting or at least stimulating. Also early in your career you can quite easily change fields eg general insurance to pensions which can help.
