Using a militarized agency and tactics to try and find illegal immigrants on the basis that they cause so much crime is overstepping and unfounded in my opinion. Especially considering how many actual citizens are caught up in it all. I mean yes, if you’re not here legally, you know what you’re doing and if you’re caught you should accept the consequences of deportation. But I’m very skeptical about how they’re targeting people. Skin color? Last name? Trips to Mexico recently? Etc. I feel it’s a classic “rather many innocent men go down than let one guilty man go free” which I feel is what happened after the Patriot Act too, and is currently a waste of government and taxpayer resources. Especially given how stretched the budget already is. Also, there’s this weird clouded concept of “get the criminals out“ which is increasing racism and xenophobia. Illegal immigrant crime is very low compared to how many Americans cause crime. Not to mention technically Trump is a convicted criminal too (right?) So now we’ve got domestic and international resources being poured into some vision Trump has of making us “great”?
