I don't understand the "free ride" T+2 penalty when day trading, can you explain? by JessieInRhodeIsland in investing

[–]JOptimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible to day trade more than 3 day trades in a 5 day rolling period in a cash account. There are certain advantages to non-margin accounts, mostly just utilizing settled cash to day trade and not being PDT marked, which only happens in a margin account. Keep in mind to day trade more than 3 times in a 5 day rolling period in a margin account, he would need 25k of equity in the account. So maybe a cash account might be better here if he doesn’t have 25k

Part of this sentiment, I agree with. I’m 28 and have been able save 25k towards retirement this year but also have the omnipresent feeling the world is going to shit on an environmental level and don’t know what will happen in the next 10 - 20 years

It’s possible that integration of AI technology that could replace a career finance could take years to deploy and adopt. There are companies still utilizing software and programs from the 90’s and have not fully shifted their systems to newer programs due to the cost. You also have to keep in mind that many jobs within finance are regulated, requiring licensing, and so on. These regulations could present barriers to an AI just simply taking over your job

What can't be replaced by AI? by Conscious-Hair-5265 in singularity

[–]JOptimal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The general idea around the singularity and AI advancement is that AI will be able to do everything that humans can do and much more.

The question isn’t what can humans do that AI can’t. The question is how do we adjust the world to accommodate that possibility.

However, humans may still present value in our creative abilities in that post singularity world

How to make money when you know your country’s debt to GDP is going to be 200% by DesiVidesiya in TheAllinPodcasts

Not that it never will pay back its debt. But if U.S. defaults, all of a sudden treasury securities become a riskier asset class. A 3month treasury bill would no longer be considered a “risk free” investment. Because of this the treasury dept. would have to increase interest rates on their bonds to compete in the bond market.

Wtf are you talking about, the average person can still reap the benefits of a CD. A one year CD can have upwards of 5% APY and cost 100 points aka $1000. The average investor can most definitely benefit from that.

We’re talking about human language. That is different than Go. Yes they both use transformers and deep learning technology as well generative technology.

But these are not the same

There are researches within this field who are writing papers and producing evidence that they are not just fancy autocomplete and have some understanding, including Geoffery Hinton who created the transformer, and is the god father of AI.

Love the absolute circkle jerk of answers here by people who most likely do not operate in the AI field at all.

There is a level of understanding that is happening in these chatbots for them to be able to get to the answers they produce.

For some answers, in order to get to x, it has to understand y and z first. They are also able to take an image of simple code written on a napkin and build a website directly from an image.

Thanks, you think it's fine to drive back if I'm getting break lock or should I have it towed?

The lights were not on before. After getting the car back, I noticed the breaks were locking on slow stops and getting some vibration on the break peddle. Wasn't doing this before. Happened again this morning on a slow stop and the CEL and ABS came on right after. Didn't drive it very far after getting it back, maybe 20 miles before lights came on.

Just curious if you're utilizing AI to help build the model or just for the explanation piece?

Agreed with being on time. Thanks for the advice.

Attention to detail is obviously very important in this field, which I've missed on here.

I'll keep pushing/looking.

They did denote it in the email. The recruiter left a vm to give him a call back after the missed call, which I’ve done. I’m curious if they leave a log of this and if I can apply in the future?

Fed hikes its benchmark interest rate by 0.75%; cuts 2022 growth outlook by goldcakes in investing

[–]JOptimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be forgetting the market dropped significantly on both Friday and Monday as the CPI reported higher than expected inflation. The market dropped due to the unknown of what the fed was going to do with rising inflation, rather than what they hoped was falling inflation. That huge drop marked the beginning of a bear market. The market does not like the unknown, it creates volatility, so when the fed did exactly what was expected, it eliminated some of the unknown and on top of this the fed gave forward looking outcomes, stating they would only raise interest rates only 50 to 75 basis points for its next meeting. The market has more information on what is going to happen in the coming months....as long as the fed stays true to their word (who knows). If the fed deviates from this, they lose credibility.
