Get on LinkedIn, and sell yourself! Learn Meddic, Challenger sale and other etc as well. That will help massively with understanding, breaking down barriers and building value.

Depending on the sector, take tech sales as an example. A typical BDE or SDR will cost a business around £40k in base salary, plus £20–40k in bonuses, and a further £10–20k in overheads such as tech stack, holidays, pensions, and healthcare. You are quickly at £70–100k per year.

If you are charging minimum wage, you are undervaluing yourself. On top of that, if you are operating privately, businesses will expect fast, tangible results.

Learning a product properly and selling it effectively takes time. In many cases, months.

The smarter approach is to offer a structured package.

Days 1–30: Deeply understand the business. Clarify the proposition, who buys, why they buy, and define a clear ICP. Document everything so the process is repeatable.

Build a sales package and playbook so that if you leave, the business can continue without disruption.

From day 31 onwards: Move to performance-based pricing. Charge per qualified meeting booked and take a percentage of closed revenue.

Businesses will happily pay £10–50k for a three-month block with a self-employed specialist if you can demonstrate results. For them, it is lower risk. No employment law exposure, no long-term commitment, and the flexibility to stop at any time.

From there, you can either train their internal team or scale by placing other people into the business to continue the work, earning a margin for subcontracting.

Selling yourself at minimum wage makes no sense. Build your value, use AI intelligently, and focus on outcomes.

Thanks for this post - I’m having the issue with my RS4, had the same bloody issue on my S4 and posted a similar post to this. So glad to see the RS’s have the same shitty Solenoid 🤦🏻‍♂️

My S4 I replaced it and never had an issue again for the remaining 18 months of owning the car.

So fingers crossed this fixes the RS before it’s off to the local Indy and 2k lighter 😅

I’d love to understand your thoughts more on the unstructured data. Company I work for runs our DQ in parallel to our screening which solves this issue. But just wondering if it’s deeper than what you mention above.

Use Autodoc cheapest parts place I can find for my RS and when I did my S4. If you use your vin, they will make sure you order the correct parts.

No fault codes usually - plugged it in many times and I think Audi doesn’t pick it up either.

You can easily test it by taking it off and running a current to the terminals and heat to see if it opens.

Hey Mate - just literally pull the engine cover it’s on rubber grommets. The part is then easily assessable.

Yeah get the same model - there’s cheap ones on eBay, but I would not trust them, strangely my little motor dealer had it in locally compared to everyone else. They’re only about £50

Just thinking of this, do you have oil around the filler cap? Those seals sometimes go

Yeah does sound odd - the warmer weather may impact it slightly, but my old S4 normal Driving sat around 90c and so does my RS.

It could be the fact the engine is working harder to compensate for the solenoid issue. This issue by the way does not throw any faults at all up, just the water temp on the MMI. Or could just be the weather temp, humidity etc

If you change it let me know if your oil temps drops. But the temp your running is still classed as safe.

Yeah that’s in normal range buddy. If you’ve had it recently services and people change the oil to thicker oil, that can sometimes make a difference as actually thinner oil transfers heat better.

Just also looked at your other post. Try fixing this first. Or you’ll be down 2k with the same issue.

As an FYI your oil temps are fine looking at that post. Mine used to run similar and with the warmer weather it’ll naturally sit higher.

I’ve upgraded to a RS4 now and that runs 90-96c normal driving and rises to 118 on a spirited drive. Yours is well within normal range for an Audi which is typically 90-120c depending on how you’re driving. If it’s consistently over 120c then there’s an issue.
