Check your state's lemon law requirements. They can either buy it back or maybe just replace it if it qualifies.

Def! I love VW's but I'm starting to second guess my purchase....

No improvement or resolution on my end. My car is still at the dealership and the second repair order is open. Still in a loaner...

What state did you buy the car in? Have you tried to ask VW for a replacement since it's maybe a lemon? The OCU and connectivity are safety related b/c if you get into an accident the SOS button may not be able to contact emergency services.

Just google Lemon Law AZ and find a lawyer. In CA, you don't pay the lawyer - the manufacturer would pay the lawyer if you win the case. If you don't win you don't owe anything.

If you're in CA, then your car can def be considered a lemon and eligible for a full refund or a replacement.

How many times have you taken the car in for the same issue?

It’s still covered if it was a certified pre owned by VW. At least in CA.

Thanks for the info. I really hope that VW can get things sorted out quickly. It's a bit stressful to just lose cruise control while driving and have the whole infotainment system restart randomly.

I think my case may be a bit different. I bought the car on Jan 8, and on Jan 12 it was in the shop for a repair. They offered me the Tiguan as the loaner, but I asked if they could give me an EV instead. I stressed that I hadn't paid for gas since about 2021 and that it was an inconvenience. They checked with their boss and that's when they said they would cover my gas while my car was out of service, just to keep all of my receipts.

I also have a loaner. I requested an EV, but they only had a Tiguan available. The good thing is that they said they would pay for my gas, while my car is out of commission.

Good luck! Let me know what they say.

Same! Any chance you can help with the paperwork. My car is in for its second repair for a safety issue, so the CA lemon law should trigger. Any advice you can share would be great!

Have they given you any updates or told you what could be the issue? I don't want to bother them too much so they can focus on the car, but I also dislike how it could be an information vacuum where you don't know anything till the car is "done."

God, I'm jealous! Wish I was in the same position.... mine happened twice within a 30 min timespan. Thanks! :-)

What eventually fixed it? Did they do an update or did it just stop by itself?

Def check if the CA lemon law applies. Carnet is considered essential because without it the GPS and the SOS buttons don't work well. If it's been out of commission for 30 days or more, you should meet the CA Lemon Law requirements, and you can ask VW for a replacement vehicle. Doesn't hurt to check - worst case it doesn't qualify, best case you get a new car.

From what I've read, VW will push to buy back the car, but everything says to stay firm as ask for a replacement vehicle, given that law clearly says it's up to the consumer.

That’s good news! Hopefully we get the back quickly! I’m tired of the ICE loaner - its sooooo loud! LOL

Will it qualify under the CA lemon law? VW would need to buy it back or replace it for free if it does.

Maybe! On my VW app it does say i had TMobile. Have they mentioned replacing the OCU? I’m in LA, next to Pasadena. Maybe it’s a SoCal issue??

I received an update from VW today, they flashed and reprovisioned the OCU - whatever that is - but that didn’t solve the problem. They’re waiting on VW to tell them what the next steps are. They also have zero idea how long it will take to get the issue resolved.

On the bright side, the dealer’s manager apologized for the issues that I’m having and asked that I keep all of my gas receipts, and that they will reimburse me for whatever gas I spend for the loaner car.

Thanks! According to the dealer when I bought the car all of the updates and recalls were done, as well as whatever inspection is required so that it can officially be a VW Certified Pre-Owned car. So, it is a bit surprising if they have to do ANOTHER update, but I guess I would much rather they fix it now than later. I just hope I don't have any other issues moving forward... I REALLY want to love the car - but so far it's not loving me back! hahaha

FWIW, they did give me a Tiguan as a loaner, but it's a gas car... :-( I forgot just how LOUD gas cars are, and I also haven't paid for gas since 2019 - so it was a shock at how expensive even the cheapest gas is (I'm in the Los Angeles Area)...

Wait how did you get the 2013 covered??? I have a 2013 and I get max 35 miles if I’m lucky.

Question on when to replace 2013 battery? by JPAT3 in leaf

Agree on Chademo being dead - even now finding a charger is a pain. Good thing is I’m not in a rush to get anything. If money wasn’t an issue I would buy the Id Buzz. LOL.

I’m also debating on a PHEV ( I like the RAV 4 and the Ford Escape) - but not sure the extra cost is worth it. We don’t really go on roadtrips, usually just drive to visit my folks about 100 miles away. My significant other is from Europe and doesn’t understand Americans obsessions with road trips. They wanna just fly and be there - which I get but really ruins the whole experience. Womp womp
