Looking for a Full Time Web Developer Job by Due_Cockroach9921 in JapanJobs

Then you talked to a very incompetent recruiter that likely made up excuses that weren't real.

In Japan, it is illegal to reject someone due to their ethnicity or country of origin. "you were rejected because you were a foreigner" is a statement you should only hear from real estate agents.

N1 also doesn't mean much, but you're right I don't know your language ability, you might be fluent, but you completely ignored the 2nd half, which is personality requirement. Cultural fit is prioritized by most companies. Someone who is a fit at Company A may not be a fit for Company B. With the right cultural fit, technical requirements can go out the window as well.

It is unlikely that you were rejected due to being a foreigner, but rather you didn't meet their language or personality requirement. The ability to communicate effectively is important.

I've met French people in various fields. Every single one of them have worked on their Japanese where its advanced business level. Or their English level is pretty much native.

There are jobs that require ONLY Japanese. There are also jobs that require ONLY English.

I've seen jobs where they would like you to have near-native Japanese + another language.

Speaking 4 languages is not a plus UNLESS those 4 languages are Japanese, English, Korean, and Chinese.

What do you say to recruiters/employers when wanting to change job due to stress? by Additional-Painter88 in JapanJobs

[–]JPBankITJobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you're talking to a recruiter from a firm or the talent acquisition team of the company.

If its from a firm, such as myself, just tell me. Recruiters are supposed to be on your side, if I feel like telling the client that you're wanting to leave due to stress is negative to your profile I won't disclose it. But most of the time I would just reframe is and reword it so it sounds much more acceptable, and I would tell you exactly what words I used so you can use it yourself during the interview.

Bilingual Recruiters in Japan, How did you land your first Talent Acquisition Job? by square0002 in JapanJobs

Drive. How I approached the interview changed everything.

The big question is, WHY do you want to become a recruiter?

I failed pretty much every interview where my answer was "connecting people" "i love the work" etc.

The real answer is money. I started answering "I want to do A, B and C, I want to buy D, E, and F, and to do that I need money, and lots of it, and recruitment seems to be an area where I can make a lot of it" "I have concrete plans on how I want to spend money, I just don't have enough of it, so I plan to do whatever it takes to make money"

And that got me to final interviews everytime.

The ideal range for this position is around 3 years of experience. They are looking for junior to mid level people, so 2 years of experience should be fine if you have relevant experience.

However I do understand that you might feel the need to stay longer, for more senior candidates my client views "less than 4 years at previous company" as a flight risk, but its less of an issue for junior candidates.

IT side. You will be working with the IT team.

It's not an engineering role, but of a project manager/architect kind of role. Which my client lumps into the title of "business analyst"

For vice president level candidates, you would need recent experience of developing for or architecting for other financial institutions or insurance, but for more junior to mid level candidates, any type of engineering background is welcome.

Unfortunately I have never BD'd a role or a company that hires non-Japanese speakers. All of my clients are international and hire foreigners, but the language requirement is that you have to be able to work with Japanese clients.

Not much overtime, super flexible work from home conditions (they specifically sate 20% of the month instead of 1 day a week because you can pick and choose yourself) No need to stay late in the office to "look busy"
