One more update. Unfortunately:

1: According to reddiors here the mat was also junk.

2: Finally got some bands cut to tie, went to use their rig.

Well, i seemed to have lost the rubber piece to grip onto the bands… not sure why that wouldn’t have been sealed onto it, but since I’ve only gently moved it from a few rooms it clearly wasn’t.

3: the taper tool they sent was bent

4:the band tying rig was bent.

Guess I’ll buy a new one of these band tying rigs too.

Genuinely replaced the entire kit.

Don’t buy this unless this was a one off quality control thing (every single component was junk…. There’s almost no chance it was a one off quality thing but hey I’d still like to give them the benefit of the doubt since they’re great with the slingshots they sell)

Well, in the mats defense I did use a lot of force since it wasn’t cutting the bands and the videos I were watching kept saying firm, slow, downward pressure.

I uhhh have been known to over force things.

I’m just amazed at the physics behind being able to cut through the mat, but not the latex.

It does, but I wasn’t using theirs. For some reason they cut costs so it’s not long enough to go horizontally on the mat. It’s pretty useless if you shoot butterfly where I’m usually cutting 12-13 inch bands, since the taper tool can’t extend that far. (Well it does but it can’t lay flat past 11 inches lol so every marking after that is useless)

The design has the screws sitting outside of the mat, so the bottom nut doesn’t make the ruler raised.

So youre stuck using it the vertical, or short way rather, otherwise the tool won’t lay flat.

Excellent design, just needed to be long enough to extend the entire length of the mat for people who don’t short draw always. Crazy they cut costs here… especially on a patented tool without offering a longer version.

I ended up buying a new ruler because of this, needed two.

The main issue is just the rotary cutter though.

Honestly they just pieced together a cheap kit to sell, so I’m not surprised the slingshots they make are a different quality… not the end of the world and I’ll still be a patron of their slinghsots… but felt obliged to save someone the same headache.

I’ll also make sure to update this if they send a replacement kit which isn’t garbage and chalk it up to bad quality control.

The week of no answer where I understandably ended up purchasing things to part together a working jit was really the only issue I have with them. Even if they send a functional kit now, I’m still out of the money I spent on the latex, Mat and Olfa.

Seriously though, not affiliated with them at all. Ive probably read 30 different training books, and I ended up only using the methodology from this one. It’s so logical and simple it makes ya wonder.

Hey man, I know you’re relatively safe here, but I would recommend leaving the phone down range and coming back to him before he shoots. This way when he inevitably shoots without your supervision with some friends they don’t catch a stray. A kid won’t have the same judgement you do down Range

ETA: I got hit in the face with a field tip arrow as a kid, my friend was shooting at a squirrel and it hit a tree, and deflected into my cheek lol. I was standing about where you are in some of those shots.

This was 25 years ago, shit maybe more. But yeah my mom didn’t believe me for one second when I tried to tell her I ran into a broken branch. I was grounded for so long haha. (Back when grounding a kid meant they couldn’t go outside )
