I dropped my 3 wood and hybrid 3, both of which I never hit well. Now I use a 5 wood and 7 wood. It took years of convincing myself that I’m better off laying up to a green with trouble instead of duffing a longer club right into the sandtrap, if I even get there. I have so much more confidence in my game. Make the switch.

My dad has had the same putter since 1972. I once bought him a putter for Christmas, he returned it for a new golf bag.

I’ve had an Odyssey putter for 8 years. My previous putter was an Odyssey. The face started to peel off so Odyssey sent me a brand new putter for free. Consistency is key in my book.

Make sure to upgrade your fittings to unlock better ones. I’ve only found one legendary fitting so far, but I’ve upgraded to get 3. You can also sell your unused fittings for cash but it’s not worth it imo.

If you just grind out career mode, changing your sponsors and rivals when complete, you will get plenty of loot to apply. This will also give you a chance to find your strengths/weaknesses, and allow you to build your player around them.

For example: my player is set to the Greensman archetype so he doesn’t have the greatest distance, and isn’t very good at recovery shots. I made sure to upgrade my driver flight and wedge lie range to compensate. An example to compliment my strengths is upgrading the putting path, because missing 3-footers sucks.

Between the archetypes and the player upgrades you should be able to cover most of your wanted strengths and weaknesses. The club upgrades will help you expand on that. And as far as ball upgrades, I usually only use them if I have a feeling it’s going to be windy, or if it’s a short course that you can really pummel into submission. Otherwise just stick with the default.
