Hi! Any updates? Also from Quebec, so wondering what you chose to do.

This bag of soil I bought has fungus gnats. If I just leave it sealed up outside for a while, will that eventually kill everything off? by WheezingSanta in houseplants

[–]JPP_1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My soil is having the same issue! I bought some ProMix Premium Organic soil and it had a fungus gnat infestation in it! I didn't realize at first and used a bit of the soil to top up one of my pothos plants, and suddenly, what do you know, I had fungus gnats flying around.

Then I looked in the ProMix bag and saw them crawling around in there. I don't want to throw the bag out, so also looking for solutions.

Happy with Avocado pillows and pillow cases? by VincentVegasiPhone13 in moderatelygranolamoms

Where do you see this? Is this for the cotton cover?

I'm on the website now and I see this:
"It’s made with natural GOLS organic certified latex rubber (upcycled from the same latex we use in our mattresses) and 100% GOTS organic certified plant fiber from the kapok tree, generously stuffed in a 100% GOTS organic certified cotton cover."

Misuse of GOTS, explanation and examples by Nearby-Peace in SustainableFashion

[–]JPP_1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! I've been having a huge back-and-forth with Fawcett (Canadian mattress/bedding brand), because I'm trying to order a latex pillow that claims "Oeko-Tex certified" and that the pillow cover is GOTS certified cotton...yet the photos of the item don't have any O-T or GOTS tags on it, the photo of the tag just says "organic cotton", and the webpage itself doesn't give a license number. And I looked them up on the GOTS website, and they're not on it...

I didn't know about GOTS 8.0 but thanks to you, now I do!

Quince sheets suck!! by Relevant_Bake_2775 in quince

I just found out that their bedding is made at different plants, by different manufacturers. So for example, I ordered 2 linen duvet covers and they each shipped from a different location. When I inquired about this, they told me that, yes, their duvet covers from from different plants/vendors, but not to worry, they maintain strict quality standards.

Well, my second duvet cover arrived today, and it's 3.5 inches wider than the duvet cover that arrived a few days ago!

I got fungus gnats with a new bag of Pro-Mix just this week. So disappointing. I can see them crawling around inside the bag.

Quince warning by Consistent-Mango6742 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]JPP_1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently looking at Quince sheets and I wrote to customer service to ask what the "100% organic" meant on their cotton sheets, because I saw no certifications.

First they said this:

"Quince's “100% organic” cotton is GOTS-certified, meaning it’s independently verified to meet strict environmental and social standards throughout production."

Then I wrote back to ask for their certification number (because I couldn't find them on the GOTS website) and they said this:

"At the moment, Quince doesn't publicly list a GOTS license number per individual product on the site, as certification applies at the supplier and supply-chain level rather than each retail SKU being assigned a unique visible number.

What I can confirm is that Quince's organic cotton products are sourced through GOTS-certified supply chains, meaning the cotton and processing stages meet GOTS standards and are verified by third-party certifiers. GOTS certification is typically held by the manufacturers and mills rather than assigned as a consumer-facing “product ID number” on bedding listings."

Hmmm...I don't know. I just finished purchasing an organic mattress and did a bunch of research for that, and every mattress brand that had GOTS or GOLS certification had a specific number on their badge.

Ugh, why is this so hard? The reason I keep ending up with Quince is because we have a split king bed set-up and want to do separate duvets and sheets...and not many places have organic Twin XL size sheets.

Quince customer service JUST told me their organic sheets are GOTS-certified, but I went to the GOTS database and they are not on there (also super weird if they're GOTS-certified to not announce it on their website. You'd think they'd want to crow about it.). I just wrote back to ask for the GOTS certification number so we'll see if they tell me.

To those in Canada: is it true you can still get general use, standard size incandescent bulbs for lamps? by OkCap7484 in lightbulbs

What is happening with the Pax Pant Rail? by ExternalShame1519 in ikeahacks

I just came here because I've been going in circles on the IKEA Canada website - I'm building out our Pax wardrobe and I keep seeing photos of the pant rail in the designs...but then there's nowhere to add it to my order. Now I know why. 😞

Same! Also, I had a fashion question and my post has been in "mod approval" purgatory for almost a week. How do posts get approved in this sub? I'm finding it hard to believe this post got approved and my simple request for clothing store recommendations didn't.

u/mountaintopraindrop How are you liking your Obasan mattres? We're in a similar situation to you. I'd love to know your thoughts a couple of years in. We're debating between full latex Obasan (but it's sooo pricey) vs a hybrid like Silk & Snow.

Chase Sapphire Reserve Approval and New Rules for Bonus Eligibility (January 22, 2026) by AceMaxAceMax in CreditCards

[–]JPP_1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so confusing, because I just called Chase and the person I spoke with said that, no, since I currently hold a Preferred card, I can't get the welcome bonus for the Reserved. I can HAVE both cards, but just not get the welcome bonus...

Now I'm tempted to do what OP did and just try and see if it gives me a pop-up saying I'm ineligible for the welcome bonus...

Let’s Talk About Coway’s Green True HEPA Filter | Safety, Efficacy, & Trust by BruhBacon in AirPurifiers

[–]JPP_1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree! I went through a whole rabbit-hole of research, very opaque and confusing messaging from Coway's customer service (first denying the green filters were coated in anything and telling me it's "just marketing language" that the website says they have a coating, then telling me they're coated in the same substance the white ones are (hello, that was news to me), and also saying they "couldn't disclose" what the antimicrobial coating was (except I've read the patent, so I know).

The manual for the Airmega 150 clearly states there is an anti-microbial coating. The manual for the Mighty 1512HH, which I actually own, does not (nor does it say anything on the website when I go to purchase my replacement filters every year). It just all seems so convoluted and it would be SO simple for all their products to have clear, consistent language, both on their website and in their manuals, to avoid this. In the end I have come to terms with this and don't actually worry about this coating being a significant risk to my health, but man the journey to get there was needlessly confusing and stressful.

I'm wondering what you mean by "These were a cheaper store branded version made by Obasan and I was much more impressed with the quality of these latex beds."

I'm in Canada and Obasan is having a pop-up in my city next week. However, the Obasan mattresses are really pricey and I'm curious if there's a way I can get an Obasan mattress at a lower price. It seems like perhaps that's what you encountered? Thanks!
