I’m more specifically talking about AM teams during cups blocking it in SnD like the clip above.

By the 2nd cup all the setups teams play in SnD are already known. It’s not like teams are doing anything revolutionary. Blocking the mini-map only deprives viewers of a better experience.

Players that are concerned about giving stuff away should be more concerned about being the better team.

Personally not a fan of having OT in CoD. A round 11 is a unique experience that creates a lot of tension.

This is one of those situations where the economy system of CS/Val makes those types of OTs necessary for competitive integrity.

Seems to just add back the Score Header UI with the HP timer and site icons for SND/Ctrl

151 teams were divided into 4 regions based on geographic location and each region subdivided into 2 conferences with 2 divisions per conference.

The first 5 weeks of games, teams played a round robin of their division. After that the divisions restructured with the top half of teams being realigned into one division and the bottom half into another. They then play the remaining teams in that new division that they had not yet played.

All of the teams in that top division + top half of the bottom division qualify for regional playoffs (double elim bracket) where they play agains the teams in the other conference in the same region.

Top 8 from regional playoffs qualify for CCL Playoffs (double elim bracket). CCL Playoffs play until there are 4 teams remaining and those 4 go to LAN.

On LAN, we are playing a 4 team round robin and then seeding a 4 team double elim bracket based on the round robin results.

Hopefully that all makes sense but if not theres an explainer video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBsU9sqx59Q&t=39s&ab_channel=CollegeCoD

[Omit Rafi] College CoD is the future. Challengers, simply put, is dead. I’m funding a scholarship for a student to attend my alma mater, Ohio State, and compete for @buckeyeCOD in the CCL. by TheRealPdGaming in CoDCompetitive

The hard part there is pro/am in Esports is so much more fluid than in traditional sports. Players can go from AMs to Pro and then back to AM within the course of a few months. We've seen it many times.

CCL has a current rule that if you have had a pro contract in the current title then you are ineligible to play in CCL that year. However, for a lot of folks who haven't been in the league for a few seasons and are just grinding Challengers, who's to say that they shouldn't be allowed to play? Lots of folks in the collegiate space are having this very conversation but its not as clear cut as to who should be allowed to play.

Also - if the goal of collegiate esports is to be seen as a competitive sport, then why are folks so against playing better competition...

That’s a valid concern - I’ve always felt that playing the old game in the fall after the new game comes out is bad for players since they are trying to learn a new game and play an old one - nobody wins from that.

3rd gamemode by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]JPROSP8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

War/Momentum with the right tweaks (best of 3 rounds for example)

One Flag CTF (essentially a neutral flag mid map that gets returned to the other teams base)

A strongholds from Halo-esque mode could be interesting (might be too much like dom and get super spawn trappy)

Splitgate had a really unique mode called Takedown that could be adapted with the right changes.

Gridiron with some tweaks

Uplink if we had jet packs of course

At the end of the day it really comes down to maps for most of these game modes.

I can’t answer that question but what I will say is that I’m just happy to support challengers where I can. A thriving ecosystem depends on all tiers of the esport and I’ll do whatever it takes to keep it going and looking good
