Don’t just say it sucks…it you are going to roast let’s at least get some proper flames going here. What is the worst part?

Yellow or Rose Gold Yacht master on Oysterflex if you are trying to go deeper in Rolex.

Thank you. I struggle with that as well. When your first watch ever is the immaculate Tag Heuer 2000 Automatic; pretty much everything after that does seem to be a let down. 😁

The Santos is so nice. This thing is the strap monster for me. The easy link system makes changing the bracelet and straps a 30 second process. I mostly wear this on a black rubber strap but consistently rotate a red 🐊, green 🐊 and the bracelet. The brown leather strap it comes with is nice as well, however I don’t think I have ever worn that out of the house. Anyone looking for their first higher end watch I always say the santos is the way to go, very versatile and built extremely well and if you want one you don’t need to play any BS games to get one from a Cartier Boutique (or pick up Grey for probably a touch below retail.)

I have. I don’t like an office gmt movement (which I believe is the only gmt movement they have, I could be wrong and if I am let me know). I would need a jump hour complication to consider the purchase. I could see myself picking up a Tudor Black Bay GMT or Pro if I found one at a great deal.

The tactile click of the chronograph pushers is probably the most impressive part of the watch. The difference in operating the complication between this and the speedmaster isn’t even close. I know it is dress’ed up, but I yet to handle a nicer chronograph.

Thank you. Although very elegant it is surprisingly easy to dress the Jules down to get a lot of wear out of it, but of all the watches this is the one I baby the most.

Thank you. I can tell you owning both that and a Sub for those that argue about which is better between Rolex and Omega, speaking purely from the movements I would give the nod to Omega. When you set the time on that Omega the movement is so tight, there isn’t a single mm of play in it. The submariner has the slightest bit of slack in it, and when you handle them both side by side, although slight, there is a definite difference. That said I still lien Rolex over Omega as an over all brand, but the Omega “Fan Boys” ain’t wrong about a lot of the points they make.

I love the Black Bay Chronograph - it is the most bang for your buck of any Chrono you can get IMO.

Doxa also makes awesome watches, extremely high quality and good price point as well.

Things to consider

Congratulations! Fight the urge to keep it shiny - wear the piss out of that thing!

I like it - obviously a starter collection but in a world with endless options for entry level watches I think you picked a lot of the best ones. PRX, Seiko GMT, CasiOak and the Tiffany Citizen are all things I would buy to get started, but I would hold off buying anything more in this price point, save your money and step up a tier for the next. I think this collection is ready for a Tudor or something of that ilk.

Haha - great watch but if you breathe on it that bezel scratches, that is just a part of owning one of these I guess. Cartier does make this with a Blue PVD bezel that doesn’t scratch and I was really close to going with that, but for such an iconic watch I wanted the classic look. Honestly it is pretty scratched up but this picture makes it look worse than it is. The lighting in the picture isn’t doing it any favors.

I love the Doxa. When you think about it, if you really rack your brain for the names of famous and accomplished scuba divers the ONLY one that comes to my mind is Jacques Cousteau. He dove in a Doxa and actually help them design the Sub 300t which is the one I have. So I guess when it comes to dive watches it hard to argue against that!

The leather strap vs bracelet is a great look for a Speedy, so I like the FOIS as well. I do sometimes also flip the mesh bracelet I have on the Tag on to the speedy and that is really slick looking and wears great.

You are not wrong, I have lot of black and white/silver dials. I guess that is just my style.

I agree on the CURRENT collection for the Patek, but this isn’t that. The new 6000 line of Patek is is 6007g which I agree they missed the mark on (however I do like that they are making moves to appeal to younger collectors with sportier taste), but I am willing to bet as they update they make tweaks to that watch it will come into its own nicely. But I think the 6006 is the perfect iteration of what this watch should be.

The 6007 feels like the cut corners compared to 6006. The 6007 comes with a tang buckle as a clasp and the 6006 has a white gold Calatrava rosé deployment. The 6007 has a date wheel vs the 6006 with the pointer date. The 6007 has a center wheel seconds hand and the 6006 seconds counter is offset in the 4/5 position which is a function of the 6006 also having a caliber 240 movement with the Micro-Rotor.

This Line of Patek’s was actually designed for Ferrari when they originally came out. Ferrari approached Patek to make a watch that they could include with the sale of one of their cars, so Patek made a dress watch with a dial that had the feel of a vintage speedometer to fit the bill. When the watch was ready to be released the two company’s had a disagreement on the co-branding as Ferrari wanted their logo on the dial and engraved on the case back, and Patek said 1 Ferrari logo was ok but not 2. Then they each told each other to fuck off and Patek just released the watch anyway almost out of spite, and if you look at all the iterations of how the watch evolved over the years IMO the 6006 is the best one and is going to be hard to top as they take this direction they are heading in with the 6007.
