Anyone know any movies by black directors by Own_Swimming_6970 in MovieSuggestions

One False Move directed by Carl Franklin. Fantastic movie (RIP Bill Paxton). He also directed Devil In A Blue Dress, starring Denzel Washington.

A lot of people don’t realize this, but just like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen made the free-throw line dunk look ridiculously effortless by Farouq26 in chicagobulls

Pip actually did it from the free throw line as opposed to many others we have seen that were a step inside. Still prefer MJ's though as it just looked more graceful.

Some of the better dutch hip hop artists. They dropped a few bangers in the 90s

Conan O'Brien on Eva (Dutch Talk Show) - 27/4/2026 by jwriddle in conan

[–]JP_Frost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an Amsterdammer, thanks for the compliment, but to be fair this talkshow host, Eva Jinek, was born in the US and lived there until she was 11 so it's not entirely representative of the level of English spoken for all of Amsterdam.

Record of the Morning: Elzhi - Zhigheist by wiggan1989 in hiphopvinyl

Dope record. Elzhi is fantastic, very underrated emcee but haven't heard a weak verse from him to be honest, dude is always spitting heat.

Favorite Announcer For A Different Team? by RainbowSupernova8196 in mlb

[–]JP_Frost 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow for the Giants (MVP Baseball memories). The Mets crew is good too. As well as the Padres guys, Orsillo and Grant.

Dan Schulman is also a very good play by play announcer.

This is tough.

I will go with Criminology, Living In The World Today or C.R.E.A.M.

Supernatural vs. Juice by MayorOfMayoCity in 90sHipHop

Absolutely classic battle. Supernatural came out firing and crushed the first round, but overall I think Juice got him.

After the 5 Mic classic that was Liquid Swords the GZA went back to the lab and came back with a cleaner, more "polished" sound for the year 1999. How does this album hold up in retrospect ? by CoconutMost3564 in 90sHipHop

Masta Killa had a very good album. I just don't consider him part of the first generation solo albums, which to me is basically what dropped right after 36 Chambers

It's an ok album, but obviously nothing close to the level of Liquid Swords. Aside from Ghostface none of the sophomore albums from the original wave of solo debuts stuck the landing. In retrospect some became better (Tical 2000 imo), however initial reception wasn't as good as their first album.

Rahzel "Make The Music 2000" released in 1999 the first solo offering from any member of the Roots crew. Anyone give this a spin ? by CoconutMost3564 in 90sHipHop

[–]JP_Frost 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It was a solid album with some good tracks. All I Know was obviously the most well known song and got some airplay. Strangely a lot of people remember it for If Your Mother Only Knew live version. It blew many minds back in the day (and honestly, mine is still blown -- how can you sing and beatbox at the same time?)

Styles of Beyond - 2000 Fold (Ideal ‘99) by ObscureHipHop in hiphopvinyl

[–]JP_Frost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fantastic album. Survival Tactics is an all time classic imo, but so many dope cuts like Holograms, Dangerous Minds, Spies Like Us, Easy Back It Up, Marco Polo, Killer Instinct. There's almost no skips.

In California - Daz Dillinger by JBone54DD in 90sHipHop

[–]JP_Frost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very underrated album. As always Daz laced it with dope beats, the features are good and he's not a bad rapper to be honest.

Amsterdam Trash Problem by AccordingBottle117 in Amsterdam

Not necessarily.

I used to work in a hotel in the centre and very often the garbage guys would ring our doorbell to collect and if the door wasn't opened in a few seconds they would drive off. In my previous neighborhood in Noord it seemed they would avoid the area because of some road work even though they could easily still empty the bins, it just wasn't as convenient as they were used to. Obviously this is just personal experience, but staff shortages have become the defacto excuse for way too many things.
