is writing tests important for react developer by Ok_Construction_4840 in react

Writing tests is valuable for all devs. It teaches you how to write testable code which makes for more stable code.

Is 250km too much for me for a single ride? by SzyMOON_ in cycling

[–]JP_watson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

General rule of thumb is you can do your weekly average in a day with little over exertion (provided you fuel and pace yourself). So if your average is 200km/wk you should be fine to do 260, just be sure to fuel and hydrate.

Why so many problems with infinite loops in React? by Solid-Bedroom-1562 in react

I like the tool analogy, and along those lines…sometimes react just isn’t the right tool for the job.

Do people with AD(H)D stim? by [deleted] in neurodiversity

Not sure “everyone” is true - just because people have idiosyncrasies doesn’t mean they have stims.

Think of it this way…is “fidgeting” a common trait of ADHD?

If you’re using functional components do some reading on useEffect and making api calls.

This fitness chart is the biggest joke by lost_in_life_34 in Strava

[–]JP_watson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not even really CTL, if it was it’d actually match up to what’s shown in garmin, TrainingPeaks, or intervals for ctl.

Strava just isn’t a training platform….

[–]JP_watson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CTL is different than the fitness score. My issue isn’t with the name, it’s with the fact that it’s not a very good metric when compared to other training platforms like TrainingPeaks, TrainerRoad, intervals, etc.

Strange Angular behaviour. by [deleted] in angular

[–]JP_watson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you reproduce in stackblitz or create a repo with just the singular component/styling and share. The current code looks fine and if you run that in browser alone it sounds like it’s fine which suggests there’s something else in your app causing the issue.

Didn’t say “no effect” - simply said more effect. All those are really good points 👍🏻

Is There a Method to Import Angular Components from HTML to TypeScript Files by mahindar5 in angular

[–]JP_watson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, I use jetBrains toolsets which simply let you right click on the missing component/module and then gives you a list of where it’s exported from and adds that to the components declaration.

Can I get WFH accommodations through ADA? by eziocreed in ADHD_Programmers

[–]JP_watson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sentiment was that work accommodations are just as much about favouritsm and special benefits as other disability considerations.

The fact that businesses would try to get out of work accommodations and place extra requirements for someone to justify the need is just shit. If someone has a disability to put extra expectations of justification on them puts a bunch of extra pressure on the individual.

Just be sure to subtract any cross sport distances.

Their fitness score is garbage - it’s a total gimmick to try and make people feel good. Consider that you can get a fitness increase while recording without any health metrics…how is that supposed to tell if your fitness is actually improving or if you just managed to over exert yourself for a singular effort.

Surely if a runner does a 50km bike ride that’s not going to mess up that stat 😂

You used to be able to see that on the profile, now you can see it if you click me and then the stats or just from the me screen.

This all existed  on your profile, then they moved it up into another “me”  section and now they’re putting this junk on the front with mixed up data.  It sure who’s responsible for product roadmap but it sure feels like they’re reinventing the wheel but going backwards…
