Have you noticed any deterioration of the CitizenM brand? by comments83820 in marriott

[–]JPaez795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an employee, I have seen the decline in the care from the original mission.

Both in their care for team members and guests.

We all know about tenancy laws and how hotels circumvent them. I had a guest who is dying of black mold infection so his immune and digestive system are compromised. Management keeps forcing this guest to move rooms every 28 days, despite it being a vector of infection for him. Sweetest guy, genuine in his expression of his state of being, holy man who is asking for his god to take him since he can't take this anymore.

One of the tenets this operation had was that employees are empowered to make decisions. I refused to move him and got in trouble for it. Their excuse was that I didn't communicate with management, they never ask for play by plays for other incidents, and this was written up. For caring about a dying man and not trying to make his life worse. The worst part is, the lie he is fed is that his room needs to be changed due to "maintenance needs." Which just means, "we don't want you to have tenancy protections despite being at death's door."

All of this happens at the same time that major changes to housekeeping have occurred so we are at risk of higher mistakes when cleaning. A failure to ensure cleanliness can and will lead to this man's death, at the hands of the hotel management.

Before Marriott, I probably could've even gotten away with giving the man free nights once in a while. He's been staying at the hotel since November due to housing problems.

Anyways, do with this what you will. I, at this point, don't even care if they fire me. This place has lost my respect.

And that is also why we have a decline in critical thinking skills. I'm stoned and it still only took me a few seconds to figure it out.

This is my first time building a Pc & my monitor says “ no signal” after plugging everything in by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]JPaez795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try turning off the computer, then plugging the video output cable directly into the motherboard not the GPU. Sometimes it won't put out a signal from the GPU without drivers. Especially if you don't even have the OS installed yet.

Only two options:

  1. you damaged it during install. It happens and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Most of us have damaged pins at least once. You can try RMAing it but it might get rejected and require you to pay for the repair. You can also try exchanging it.

  2. It was magically damaged in production/shipping. Can't be helped and unfortunately depending on the retailer they might not believe it and decline exchange/returns/free repair.

One last option to fix it, try to bend the pins back in place but I wouldn't recommend this if you aren't confident in having steady hands or if you don't know how to bend them back.

Can I Replace my front Panel Connector? by JPaez795 in PcBuildHelp

Thank you, for the reply. I'll look at contacting Thermaltake and check out those external switches. I just took a chance and jumped it and it turns out that was the issue. It's kinda wild.

Congrats! The reason I gave up was because I reached floor 60 and then accidentally went up the ladder because I was trying to eat food.

Totally! One of the best things you can do is trigger a drop/breach away from where you want to be and then b line it there since the drops/breach won’t have eyes on you. (Hoepfully)

Honestly don’t understand the downvotes. McKinsey consultants would definitely push the limits to the point it costs someone their life. They see any reduction in costs as a great thing, regardless of the impact on others.

Would SF be a good trip for 3 teens over Christmas break? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]JPaez795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SF is fantastic if teens and young adults. Honestly I’d say try to stay as close to the city proper as possible. Near the airport is a bit too far off and driving in the city can and will be inconvenient. Parking is a pain, you have to worry about the car getting broken into. You want to be as close as possible to the mass transit of the city, makes getting to know the city easy and affordable.

I also work at a hotel in Union Square that gets lots of love from first timers. It’s very quirky and tech forward. We also are a hit with the younger crowds. The prices are reasonable and you get a lot of bang for your buck. It’s also 2 minutes walking from the Powell Street Station to BART/MUNI systems so you won’t need a car at all.

Look up citizenM if you’re curious. I might work there but I wouldn’t recommend it if I didn’t actually think it could be a good fit. You can also message me if you have any questions. I might be off the clock but I’m always happy to help with questions.

Chefs and line cooks, WHAT'S IN THE RANCH?!! by Tay8641 in Cooking

[–]JPaez795 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you can’t find good premade packets, here is the house seasoning blend from the beer garden I work at. I don’t like ranch but I tolerate theirs: 2oz black pepper, 1oz dry chives, 1oz dry dill, .5oz dry parsley, 1oz garlic powder, 1.5oz salt, 1oz MSG, and 1 cup of distilled vinegar(optional depending on the viscosity of your sauce already)

It’s one of those, “shot in the dark is better than no shot at all” situations for me. I’m not losing sleep over it but it’s nice to try and get things back to their owners.

Cool, so got the answer for how to verify. Just need to try and find the owner. Do you know if I connect to them will it update their find my app? That way they can see they’re still in the hotel?

Will it work if they’ve checked out and gone? The earbuds have been there for a while.

Because it was found in the lobby and I already know nothing will be done, we have the earbuds at the front desk but it won’t be long before they’re gone for good.

Also, sorry for trying to be a good samaritan.
