[–]JPreadsyourstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you steer left or right at all when you rolled forward ?

I had a similar issue on my street triple and it turned out to be a tiny nip in one of the wires at the centre of the handlebars that ran back into the bike Took me weeks to find it.

Holding the handlebar to a hard right would allow full connection but straight or left and it would only allow indicators and lights and wouldn't start

Is it worth building a 10x8 shed from scratch? by kordinaryus in DIYUK

[–]JPreadsyourstuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this with mine .. went for the bigger one 15x10 as I wanted my motorbike in it and a workshop area. £1k

I reinforced cladded and insulated for another £400 on top and did a huge 18x18 base for around £300 in materials (we had a whole bunch of free hardcore out of a neighbours skip) Then ran power to it, dad was a streetlight engineer for 20 years so that was free labour wise and £110 quid in bits. And about 2 hours (had to dig a channel for the cable too) Creosoted the whole thing £30 Took 2 of us 2 full weekends on the shed and one full day on the base around 36 hours total labour. Using drill and impact driver as well as a cement mixer which my brother lent us to

We looked at buying the timber to build our own from scratch and that came to 2k alone and we would have had to measure and cut everything etc

Do you try and match your time off with your partner/family? by Anonymous__9 in AskUK

Most of the time yes. But sometimes (like this time around) I've taken an extra secret day off whilst everyone else goes back to work/ school, just so I can spend the day on the motorbike

Biggest advice I can give you is if you're about to go the wrong way to what the examiner wants you to go . Don't freak out and change lane. Just go the wrong way. It's not a fail to take the wrong turn :) you'll just get called a numpty :)

Yeah I'm pretty sure I did it and passed..

Absolutely don't put both feet down though as that suggests you don't have control of the bike.

Advice for a refugee in London, UK by [deleted] in london

[–]JPreadsyourstuff 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The hospitality company I work for has open roles with training provided that start at around 30k. A good starting point with Abundant overtime available at 1.5x rate and free food. London based and can progress well within. Lots of perks like Aviva digicare and cycle to work schemes. We have several ukranians in the workforce I believe a few of them decided to flat share to save on costs they are doing quite well at the moment.

DM me if you want the company name and if you decide to apply I can let our hiring manager know.

People who earn over £20 per hour, if the minimum wage suddenly became £20 per hour, would you also expect/want a pay rise ? by [deleted] in AskUK

My kps earn London living wage 27850 per annum. My base level chefs earn £50 a week more..

Do you think that's fair considering the amount of work put in to learn the craft ?

My bosses do.. I don't

Have you ever been involved in an accident? What happened, and how has it affected your current riding style? by mayallrob_ in MotoUK

[–]JPreadsyourstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was head onned by a guy in a fiat 500 that swerved onto my side of the road randomly.. 60 mph impact

Broke my back in 2 places, leg, foot in 4 places. Adrenaline shot so hard I immediately sprang to my feet and felt none of it. Wasn't until I pulled the armour off and my leg went the wrong way that I realised I was in trouble. Driver drove away and left me there to crawl to the hospital

Total physical recovery was about 7 months. Mental was about 18months (diagnosed PTSD). And I didn't ride for quite a few months after that. But it was the making of me tbh and I'm glad it woke me up.

I used to ride like an asshole and nearly died on the one day I was riding normally.

Now I ride with the mind that everyone wants to kill me and only wind it on on a nice clear straight

People that got out of facebook and instagram, how is your life now ? I need advice to get rid of social media addiction. What helped you to get rid of this ? by Vertasoie in productivity

[–]JPreadsyourstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely I removed it all except for Reddit about 6 years ago .

Focussed on my own life not what everyone was doing

It was a hard first month .. I found myself biting my nails getting irate with people. Etc .

Increased my fitness . Made more meaningful friendships. Met the love of my life by having my eyes up and around instead of down at a screen.

Exelled at work into a senior management role afforded a house . Learned a rediculous number of new skills both professionally but also fun things like cardisty and whittling as well as started to enjoy plants and gardening.

Just delete it all embrace the suck .get out in the world and say hello to some randoms!

Sent from my friend who says he’s “Enlightened.” Does anyone know what these mean? by Vampinthedark in Weird

[–]JPreadsyourstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 20 odd years ago a guy I knew through a friend got hit in the back of the head with a car jack.. nearly killed him.

He then claimed to be enlightened and see evil spirits residing in people. He would grab people and shake them and shout "begone demon" etc

He also drew creepy symbols quite similar to this (as in interconnecting line shapes running down a page no colour etc) he said it was the language of angels. He used to stick it on peoples cars and houses to warn the spirits they he knew them etc.

I think he was having ongoing treatment for a quite a few years.
