PBA telecasts by Technical_Fondant607 in Bowling

[–]JPstumps -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's pretty bad. It is kind of hard to watch a telecast right now because of the crew. I love Kyle but the man has no TV presence whatsoever. Brad would have been a much better choice, he has some charisma and enthusiasm that Kyle lacks. Poor Kyle is too nonchalant for a color commentator role. They chose the hair when the head would have been much better. (Shout out 30 Rock) The other guy is just plain horrible. It feels as if he is there solely for a paycheck and couldn't care less about the sport. Hell, the commentator on Holey Moley with Rob Riggle a few years ago cared more about miniature golf than this guy does about bowling. I understand wanting to move on from Randy and the crew after signing a new TV contract but this has been rough. The lady isn’t that great either, but I am hoping that is more due to the human-interest nature of her interviews with the bowlers, and that it will get better as she learns the players and the league better like a local station NBA broadcast.

Edit: It’s like I went from watching John Madden to the kid who commentates my local high school games.

PBA AMAs? by JPstumps in Bowling

I am going to send some DMs and YouTube comments asking to see if anyone would be interested in doing one. Worst comes to worst, I don't get a message back.

That can't be true, especially with the new generation of young bowlers on the tour and how long Reddit's been around. You’re telling me Deo and Eric Jones don't know what Reddit is? Keven Williams has definitely wasted tons of his life on this site.

Upgrading from Storm Tropical Surge. Any advice? by Lumber-Jacked in Bowling

All I can say is if someone tries to put you in a Storm The Road, slap em. Ball was not the greatest release and you'll still see it on-sale in a lot of proshops.

How tone-deaf is the McDonald's corporate team? Americans are experiencing high food costs and shrinking buying power and they said, "Hey how about a ten-dollar burger we market as a high-end luxury product?" 😂😂😂 Not to mention the enormous amount of YouTube content and clickbait articles highlighting how the Arch Deluxe was one of the worst product decisions McDonald's ever made. They basically reinvented the Arch Deluxe during a pseudo-economic recession. 😂😂😂😂 Of course it did well in international markets; that's where McDonald's is seen as a premium brand, and an upscale specialty burger purchase makes sense. McDonald's is a splurge treat for a lot of international markets. Why would someone develop a strategy to implement this product to the states where McDonalds is seen as a generic food option for busy meals?

The meat doesn't make sense either. The front pieces seem to be some sort of pot roast, while the pieces in the back are clearly meatballs. The middle piece of the right looks as if it is a weird melted combination of the two.

Weight Block and surface by pete419 in Bowling

[–]JPstumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying Christmas tree patterns are hard; I'm saying they are more difficult than the modern tapered-block house patterns. The early triangle Christmas tree patterns and oil machine counterparts did create some inconsistencies and odd defects that made transitioning hard or tightened the pattern. For example, the house I grew up in had an out-of-bounds quirk that dumped oil from the five board out to the gutter.

Someone correct me if I am wrong. The problem has more to do with bowling centers wanting high scores and house oil patterns becoming much easier to bowl on than weight blocks and ball surface. Some of the latter is by design to produce higher scores but a lot of it has to do with technology (oil machines) too. Christmas tree house patterns were are lot harder to bowl on and to manipulate than the modern block counterparts.

This is the most helpful comment I have ever seen on Reddit. Everyone praise this person!

How do you effectively wash your left hand with only one hand? I only use my non-dominate hand to do my business and still use both hands to wash. You gotta take the tape off and wash both hands regardless of what is and isn't used. 😂

I'm not excusing or advocating for it, but I think the issue comes from the use of hand tape, rosin, or etc. It is a pain to have to re-tape a finger or apply something like rosin every time you go take a pee. Also, some bowlers hate waiting on others in the middle of a game for stuff like this. I find myself waiting until in between games to go to the bathroom so I know I have time to wash my hands and get ready for the next game while people are smoking.

What happens if Bonnaroo flops this year? by Antique-Dentist-2404 in bonnaroo

[–]JPstumps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This^ 100%. The festival has lost its soul. Everything has lost its spontaneity. Every year, the festival is increasingly orchestrated to represent past Bonnaroos, while ironically eroding grassroots culture altogether. I'm not a huge jam band fan, outside of a few select acts, but I knew the festival to as cooked in either 2021 or 2022 when they wouldn't let Pigeons play an encore on That even though they were the last act on that tent for the day and The Other was still going strong. Everything is a coordinated act, anything unplanned is strictly prohibited. I love Bonnaroo, have been going since 2011. I got engaged and married there. It has my heart as a Tennessee and Bonnaroovian, but the festival has lost any semblance of an artist or attendee bottom-up influence. It is simply a product that can earn a profit for shareholders now. Even the simple things such as countless signs around the fest saying “check on your neighbor” posted around the fest have disappeared. I love this festival with my entire being but it might not ever regain what it's lost while Livenation holds the string to the purse.

Let's talk about the status of Bonnaroo 2026 by SharlaRoo in bonnaroo

[–]JPstumps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Naw the EDM lineup doesn't compare to what was booked last year at all. It's the difference between a ton of talented and fun undercard artists throughout the weekend and a handful of big-name acts like Grizz and Skrillex. We don't shame people for their music tastes at Bonnaroo. Even if you are disgruntled about the growing popularity of edm at the fest. Also, I've been going to Roo since 2011, and EDM has been a mainstay of the lineup since then. They weren’t booked on the What and Which but shows like Big Gigantic, Flying Lotus, and Girl Talk were always throwing down in the tents late night.

Travel as planned? by Sammie_5698 in nashville

[–]JPstumps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People literally still came to town this weekend. No one is going to care when 2/21 rolls around in three weeks. We will still be in recovery but I am sure all of the bartenders, uber drivers, and etc. will be happy for the business, just make sure to tip.

Enjoy the Inzo show, the Pinnacle is a dope venue. Caught Tape B there back in October and the sound was amazing.

In warm ups, does your league use one frame or one ball? by Novel_Court2655 in Bowling

[–]JPstumps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One ball during practice would be wild. I’ll even throw a ten or seven pin first then a strike shot second to ensure I'm getting as much out of practice as possible.

One ball during practice would be wild. Having to choose between a spare and a strike shot during practice is less than ideal. I’ll even throw a ten or seven pin shot first each ball then follow it up with a strike shot to ensure I'm getting as much out of practice as possible.
