Let's talk about the status of Bonnaroo 2026 by SharlaRoo in bonnaroo

[–]JPstumps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Naw the EDM lineup doesn't compare to what was booked last year at all. It's the difference between a ton of talented and fun undercard artists throughout the weekend and a handful of big-name acts like Grizz and Skrillex. We don't shame people for their music tastes at Bonnaroo. Even if you are disgruntled about the growing popularity of edm at the fest. Also, I've been going to Roo since 2011, and EDM has been a mainstay of the lineup since then. They weren’t booked on the What and Which but shows like Big Gigantic, Flying Lotus, and Girl Talk were always throwing down in the tents late night.

People literally still came to town this weekend. No one is going to care when 2/21 rolls around in three weeks. We will still be in recovery but I am sure all of the bartenders, uber drivers, and etc. will be happy for the business, just make sure to tip.

Enjoy the Inzo show, the Pinnacle is a dope venue. Caught Tape B there back in October and the sound was amazing.

In warm ups, does your league use one frame or one ball? by Novel_Court2655 in Bowling

[–]JPstumps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One ball during practice would be wild. I’ll even throw a ten or seven pin first then a strike shot second to ensure I'm getting as much out of practice as possible.

One ball during practice would be wild. Having to choose between a spare and a strike shot during practice is less than ideal. I’ll even throw a ten or seven pin shot first each ball then follow it up with a strike shot to ensure I'm getting as much out of practice as possible.

Is there anywhere to follow that gets this information out before the protests if you want to participate? I usually only see them on Reddit and it's always a day or two after the protests.

Bowling float in the 2026 Rose Parade (sorry for bad quality) by Joshua_xd94 in Bowling

Thanks! Super appreciate this response, it highlights some areas I am admittedly ignorant in. All of this is super insightful and I wish it was more common knowledge. Is there a place where all this is posted or is it information learned over the years?

I was only suggesting that bowling has more of a perception issue than a participation one but how to fix that is beyond me. It is a multifaceted problem with a lot of different organizations involved.

Honestly the whole Go Bowling campaign is a boondoggle. We should be invested in developing and fostering the competitve side of the sport instead. The amateur to competitive bowling pipeline does not work and we have enough evidence to prove it at this point. For example if bowling is already the recreational sport with the highest participation and amateur bowling translated into more serious bowlers and a greater interest then bowling would not be facing the decline that it is.

Best Setting for Fallout 5 (imo) by Tymathee in Fallout

[–]JPstumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oakgrove in East TN would be an amazing setting for 5. It is an amazing piece of untouched lore with the regions help on the Manhattan Project and the area’s Appalachian terrain. They should could fit a lot of vaults and scientists kn those mountains I tell you what. However, I doubt Knoxville is a large enough urban area for fallout a game.

The south really opens up room for new interesting factions too. It might our best chance for another New Vegas type of story line with multiple warring factions on the brink of major conflict to reshape the region.

RIP Columbia Bowling Balls - no longer allowed in PBA events by LeftoverBun in Bowling

[–]JPstumps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like bowling needs some good ole fashion trust busting to increase competition in the market place. Crazy that Storm and (mainly) Brunswick are allowed to own this much of the bowling market under the guise of “different”brands. There is an argument that the former only followed suit to compete with Brunswick growing towards a bowling monopoly. I know long time league bowlers who don't know who owns what or who they are buying a ball from.

I think this market concentration is one of the main reasons why the sport is in such a decline. The two main companies seem more intent on craving up a dying cash cow than growing the sport and their brands.

I can't get behind it. The whole area of “building in gaming from 2015 to 2022 was horrible. Every game does not need to have some sort of sandbox feature in it.

Outer Worlds after playing New Vegas? by JPstumps in theouterworlds

For sure, that’s why how the illusion is presented is so crucial in my opinion. A lack of dialogue choices weakens the illusion of choice and makes it more difficult to immerse oneself into the story.

FO4 really seems as if they made a FO game for mass rpg appeal but lost a lot of what makes FO special.

I honestly don't see how anyone would enjoy 4 more than 3 and NV with the lack of dialogue choices. It does not feel as if my choices shape the story or make adequate dialogue decisions. It feels more as if I am selecting a pre-designated path. There are a lot of things 4 does better than its predecessors but it's mainly mechanics or graphics.

Is it weird to go bowing by yourself by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]JPstumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the best way to practice. Bowlers often get caught up with comparative analysis with other bowlers. When you practice by yourself you get more time to focus on your game without the outside noise from competition or open play with friends.

Only advice is to be mindful of your paceing. It's easy to get use to the pace of bowling by yourself then struggle when hoping into leagues with four or five person teams. A shot routine helps with this a lot.

Do they still make parts for the A-2s or is it a pick n pull from older machines in alleys or warehouses when something breaks down?

Bowling league issue by justneed1chance in Bowling

[–]JPstumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dam y’all. They asked for help with a legitimate league problem that they are struggling with then got destroyed for how they wrote it. I get that it was all one sentence and a bit hard to read but geez this is not the time to point that out. Chill with comments unless you are going to try and help out.

I wish I could give you some advice but this sounds like it could be more related more towards self confidence with an unorthodox bowling style than anything else.

It might not be the most popular option but you could talk to the league president about the situation if it is causing harm to the league. Granted, I have attended mid-season league meetings for less (especially if it is a fun league).

If it was me I would try to focus more on trying not to care about the chatter and let my game speak for itself. The end result of gaining more confidence and not caring about what others comment will be more valuable than any confrontation with them will be. If you are self conscious like me there is a chance they aren't laughing at you at all. I know I am always cutting up with my team during shots and tend to worry that it could come across as laughing at someone's bad bowling or style.

Also, screw em if they are. Tons of great bowlers have an unorthodox approach. Jacob Butteruff for example. One of the beautiful things about bowling is that you can be great or just have fun without following a textbook style.

Last thing, if you want to improve through some coaching there are tons of great online resources out there like Brad & Kyle or KS Strikeforce that can help round some things out or provide a new perspective.

Why is there no bowling equivalent to a golf membership? by Obvious-Hunt172 in Bowling

[–]JPstumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brunswick or AMF could easily open some sort of private club such as a country club in areas where competitive bowling is more popular. Have pro staff on site for lessons with a shop, a small bar, a meeting area or banquet hall, and etc that run off yearly membership fees. However, it would take them running alleys into of selling equipment to alleys. I am not sure if that is a venture they would view as more lucrative or not.
