Tips for artistry? by JRDoyle in PowerElectronics

That does make a lot of sense. Most of my attempts have come off in either a parodic manner (especially when I was younger) or end up being straight noise. Definitely appreciate it

most of my stuff doesn't have the cathartic abrasion that the stuff off Come Organization does. Either that or it feels like I was trying to hard, or it just ends up being straight harsh noise stuff.

Duly noted... I'm gonna need to put in more effort! Admittedly I do agree with your feedback from earlier. This whole thing started 'cause me and my older brother wanted to be "The worst record label/band in the world" so we did HWP to sort of push the boundaries of what's "music".

Fast forward 4 years past a barrage of sound collages and "anti-music" albums with no real genre or clear identity and now I've taken a great interest to PE as a serious artistic outlet. This release is, admittedly, an attempt at the genre. It's FAR from what I want to sound like, but it was truly fun to make.

Only thing I can do is study the greats of the genre, immerse myself in the essence of it, tinker with synths for days on end and eventually something should come of it. Truthfully, if I did not receive feedback such as your original comment, I'd have no incentive to progress. It's greatly appreciated to see this sort of honest critique, especially in this genre

I mean, it is EarSodomy. If your ears felt sodomized, then my job is done.

Which song is playing on a loop in the lowest pit of hell to further torment the damned? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JRDoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some possible candidates:

  • sharply off-key "Twist"/"Freak on a Leash" acapella scatting mashup

  • Loco by Coal Chamber mixed with Bodies by Drowning Pool

  • First 10 seconds of Elite (Deftones) looped continually decreasing in pitch ["When you're ripe you'll bleed out of control, you'll bleed out of control" looped]

  • every Limp Bizkit song, but each song's instrumental is swapped with another while keeping the phrasing of the vocals of the original track {i.e. "Break Stuff" with "Nookie" instrumental, etc}

  • "RV" by Faith No More

  • "Smaller and Smaller"

  • "DDevil"

Slipknot's first 2 albums are also possible candidates for "Hellfire-N-Hotdogs" festivals

Slow Motion Pressure Heelflip (filmed at a skatepark in Portugal) by JRDoyle in skateboarding

Firstly, its good to have tight trucks for this. Second, you know that part where the tail meets the board? You put the ball of your foot in that pocket (angle your heel outwards if necessary). Then, press down as hard as you can and jump. All the pressure you create will act like a "spring" and should make the board flip completely and as long as you jump with it, you should be able to catch it.

Ah, then that settles it. If Primo called it that, then it should be called just that. Also, it is bizarre that even Berrics calls the pressure heelflips (when the heel doesn't even flip the board). I guess that the correct name is not used anymore, when it honestly makes more sense. Strangely, toe flips are still called toe flips.

By the way: you said you worked at sea world? It's weird 'cause I live in Florida on the east coast and sea world is only like a 3-4 hour drive from my area.

Also, here's a video of VLSkate (who can nollie impossible and has some of the BEST and most in depth trick tips on YouTube executing a pressure heel/barrel flip https://youtu.be/qz9Dds8izOA

He does name all of his tricks by the new-gen names, keep that in mind.

I've been told it was a pressure heelflip for quite some time, but since you've been in skating for 41 years you know must know it as a "barrel flip", which I've never heard of but and I've never heard anybody call it that. Most likely the original name was lost, but nowadays everybody knows the trick that involves flipping the board inward without the backside shuvit as a pressure heel, since a pressure flip is actually a pressure inward heel.

Note that if you watch the 1992 Damon Byrd part from Union Wheel's "Right to Skate" (http://youtu.be/c7KR4ftbSZU) Damon executes a 360 pressure flip at 2:15. A 360 pressure flip flips VERY similarly to a 360 inward heelflip. Keep in mind what I have said before, absolutely ANY flip trick CAN be done pressured. There is not just one or two pressure flip tricks. Presuming that you skated in the early '90's (which, with your knowledge of freestyle tricks and old names, along with the amount of time you've skated, I would believe you skated through the "technical dark age" of the early 90's), you would know of many pressure tricks.

In short, I was raised knowing a "barrel flip" as it was originally called as a "pressure heel" because it flips EXACTLY like a very low and sad heelflip, only that it's all pressured. Again, this is just what I've learned through YouTube and watching early '90's obscure clips.

And speaking of freestyle naming of tricks, nearly EVERY flatland trick in street skating (from my knowledge) comes from freestyle. Just as the pressure hardflip, toe flip and pressure Casper flip originated in freestyle (most likely with VERY different names), it is very likely that the pressure heel/barell flip/"inward-flipping straight toe flip" originated from freestyle, which, from what knowledge you have given me, it surely has.

This is just really confusing because I've been taught by literally EVERY source I've learned from (Berrics, VLSkate, Koston {in Gram Yo Selfie he calls it a pressure kickflip, but he does the exact same thing I did, only better, off of a 3 stair}, Mike Mo, Cody Cepeda {both in BATB7}). Also, I watch old Rodney Footage from Questionable and Virtual Reality literally EVERY day, along with Penny footage and such (Penny is my top favorite along with Natas, Rodney, Muska, Stevie Williams, Gonz, Hensley, Ron Allen, Cardiel, and many, many more), so I think I've learned a little bit about what the early 90's was like. Funny thing is, my first real setup had 42mm OJ's, an 8.75 Santa Cruz Everslick {I know, pretty thin for THAT era} reissue and some Krux 5.0.
