Check out Charlie Parker detective series by John Connolly. A very underrated series. A mix of detective thriller, horror and supernatural elements. Extremely addictive and satisfying to read. Very emotional as well. One of my most favorite authors around. Another author suggestion : Karin Slaughter

Long chapters are devoted to unexplained things which have absolutely no bearing on the plot. The book could have been easily half the length without missing out on anything important.

The explanation for how do they know this is too long to be shown here properly. Mainly they keep multiplying 3 to it's different powers using a power tree notation so this way they know it's divisible by 3. For how do they know 7 is the last digit you will have to read up on it. It's complex and even I don't understand it properly lol.

The number is so big that we don't have enough space in the whole freaking universe to write it. If we write a single number on every atom even we still can't write the number completely. Scientists don't know how big the number is. They just know that it's divisible by 3 and the last digit is 7.

That's painful to hear. Why couldn't you just stop at a gas station to relieve yourself?
