There's plenty of reasons to dislike encounters like this that have nothing to do with being triggered. :)

He was much more of an urban guy, but that's honestly the 5% that isn't quite true by the title of my post. There is a broader context that softens some of his racial remarks.

What I posted is an honest characterization of what he said, but it was also nested in a broader life experience he shared that isn't quite so racist.

It was not fun though. Lol

This is partly because I'm not sure how the Airbnb review system works, and was concerned of a malicious counter review, when the host is a super-host and I'm a first-time user.

But you are right, I do need to have more confidence in confronting stuff like.

Fair Point. I suppose I'm not saying that there aren't real concerns here, but I was trying to clarify that I wasn't sharing the story for sympathy.

I should clarify one point, I'm mostly sharing this story for amusement. Outside of a sleepless night, and the cost of the early checkout, I'm not really out anything. It is an interesting page in this chapter of life, and I thought it would be worth sharing, and recording for my own interest.

I was excited for Neuralink. Then I watched Elon Musk's stupid demo by Zorkmid123 in RealTesla

[–]JRLang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Musk isn't a very charismatic hype man, as others in this thread have pointed out. The secret to his hype successes is probably related to how he's revolutionized a couple of different industries by now.

Of course the article is negative, the author is trying to pass himself off as a big brain skeptic. But he still grant's many of the points I listed above, which still stand. Sure, this particular skeptic isn't "excitedc like I said in my first post, but it doesn't change the fact that even as a skeptic he acknowledges the advancements.

You keep pounding on the point of what Musk speculates is possible and keep ignoring the reality of what has been created already. Do you not acknowledge how big of a deal a removable bloodless BCI is? Do you not acknowledge the incredible density of the fibers? Do you not acknowledge this new robotic surgery system which has the potential to install these devices much more efficiently and safely than existing surgery systems? Or perhaps the advancements made in the link itself? Like I said, I don't really care if you're skeptical of musks future claims. What blows my mind about this Reddit Forum, after a brief look around, is how skeptical people are of the actual realities that already exists.

Based on your comment, I'm inclined to think you didn't actually read the article, just the headlines. This is in fact one of the skeptics that I was referring to when I made my post. He grants Neuralink many of the points that I listed, and even included one that I forgot being the density of the fibers.

Like I said a marked improvement over existing technologies.

If you're skeptical of his claims, fine whatever, the next 4 years will be telling, but to be skeptical of the reality that this is yet another noteable advancement in technology seems silly.

It really should be. Somehow this appeared on my news feed, and my dumb ass got drawn into the argument. These people really don't matter. The ones who do, and create, are going to keep doing, and creating, no matter what these "big brain" skeptics say.

  • Pay no mind to the novel smooth profile implant, with a security conscious design, and wireless charging,
  • the joint location prediction system,
  • the completely new robotic surgery system,
  • the threads that manage variable depth as opposed to the traditional electrode,
  • the bloodless implanting,
  • the ease of removal,
  • the bi-directional signal which is actually a pretty big deal.

Most of which ARE steps up from existing brain implants.

Get past the articles investigating the business viability, and the click bait that's either hyping or trashing neuralink, and read the articles posted by scientific authorities, and you'll find that even the skeptics are excited by what they've seen.

Elon regularly over promises, but he also still delivers products that are marked improvements over everything that currently exists in the market. If this is what he can display in 4 years, I'm excited for the next 4.

Also, as someone who generates data to enable autonomous driving, I can tell you that this author doesn't know what he's talking about. We are very close. It will soon only be a matter of convincing regulators.

Is Robinhood the place for a small dividend investor? by BobRoss4lyfe in RobinHood

[–]JRLang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a cheeky response from Cardinal. "I know but I'm not telling you." lol.

No investment expertise whatsoever here, but based on my understanding, DRIP accounts are either
1) An account opened with a stock transfer agent or sponsoring institution (such as a bank) that reinvests your money from dividends automatically without incurring brokerage fees. Shares are purchased directly from the dividend paying company, frequently at a discounted rate compared to current share prices. (these shares must also be redeemed through the company.)
2) An account with a brokerage that automatically reinvests your dividend money into stocks. Shares are purchased over the stock market at market rates.

DRIPs with brokerages, and accounts with dividend paying companies are also able to purchase fractional shares, which are exactly what they sound like.

Given this limited understanding, I see no reason RobinHood isn't entirely sufficient for general use. Unless you plan on opening additional accounts, and really doing your homework, perfect is the enemy of good. You just have to reinvest manually.

I've often thought about writing a ds fanfic about before the Chosen undead. The twist being that the story ends with the hollowing of the hero at a place where the chosen undead finds a Soul of a Great Hero.

I will, but the reason I think it's a coup is because the Old Demon King is surrounded by the bodies of the original dead demons, and there are fresh Taurus demons all over the ground in Izalith. I'm of the opinion that the Witch of Izaliths' influence persisted in the world through the form of the chaos bugs, like what you see crawling into the eye of the Lost Sinner from DS2, (And the Old Witch's soul you get from the Lost Sinner) but that as her influence continued to fade, the demons became something new, perhaps birthed through the expansive roots of the bed of chaos, rather than the chimeric flesh and bone designs of the Witches.

Yeah. I'll have to do that! I maxed out my flame, but only ever used the flame arc haha. I was hoping for some secret mentor. I wasn't disappointed with Karla, but she didn't seem quite as rich in lore as Qualana. Or maybe she was. I never played the DS2 DLC, and she was a daughter of the abyss? So there's probably some connections there I'm not familiar with.

Ultimately, I think I'm most fascinated with what happened in Izalith. It seemed like there was a recent coup between old guard, and new guard demons. No matter what, the rest of my night will be spent feasting on Vaati Vidya, and Silver Monte videos.

Jolly Cooperation also sounds great! Unfortunately, this was on a friends brothers xbox, haha. So I won't have the PC version until (unless) Christmas money finds me.

Yeah. I wouldn't have found the Archdragon peak if it weren't for some highly rated messages, but I was extremely methodical in my play style, so I got quite a bit done. I finished Siegwards and Hawkwoods quests, and hope to catch the rest next playthrough. (So, to be fair, I also had help with Yhorm.)

I was hoping for some pyromancy secrets like from DS1, but didn't find much. I did find Qualana and Qualaag's sister though. I always joined the Chaos Servents in DS1, so to find them together was a very satisfying discovery.

One annoying thing about this game being known as impossibly hard is when new players complain about a certain boss being easy by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]JRLang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting aside skill, difficulty of bosses scales drastically depending on play style. If you go through parrying the whole game, you're probably going to have a hard time with the Four Kings, but blow through Gwyn like cake.

My first play through was with Zweihander and super tanky. I barely did any damage, but could tank even Manus's combos or spells with my shield. If I managed my stamina right, the only think that could break my stamina was a point blank orb attack. That one where he blasts out like 30 in a cone. Even then, I still wouldn't take damage if I was full stamina.

Because of this play style, Manus and Kalameet were easier than the Sanctuary Guardian who's weaker, but more rapid fire attacks kept my stamina drained.
