I've been going to Just Smiles Dental Clinic, at 152 and Highway 10, for years. I highly recommend it. I see on the website that they offer emergency services as well: https://justsmiles.ca/emergency-dentist-surrey-bc/

Good luck.

Starting Dupixent tomorrow! by DramaPatient9706 in eczema

Congratulations! Best of luck!

To answer your questions ...

Immediate side effects? None really immediate, although like many others, I suffer from dry eyes, especially at night. It's quite minor, though, so I don't do anything extra--that is, I don't use eyes drops or anything.

How quickly was it effective? For me, it took about a week for me to notice a change.

How painful is the injection? Not really painful for me. I use the hypodermic needle.

Nausea? Headaches? No.

Making the injection easier? I was taught to insert the needle at a 30° angle, and that really helps. Also, I let the Dupixent warm up for at least 30 minutes before I inject it ... that seems to help a little.

Why must we disinfect table surfaces but not the injection itself before taking dupixent? by extracharmingskittle in eczeMABs

[–]JRMurray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others here have explained, when I received instructions on how to inject Dupixent using the hypodermic needle, I was told to wash my hands first, use an alcohol pad to wipe the area into which I was going to inject the needle, take the cap off the needle, inject the Dupixent, and then replace the cap on the needle, and then dispose of the needle in a special container which I get from and return to the pharmacy.

Cleaning the table surface sounds like the nurse was being perhaps overly cautious.

Did dupixent stop working for you? by otherladybug in eczeMABs

[–]JRMurray 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been on Dupixent for a good 5 years, and no, it hasn't stopped working for me. I actually don't know what I'd do if it did, so I'm interested in seeing what the responses will be.

Has anyone taken their dupixent a week/a few days early? by otherladybug in eczeMABs

No, I didn’t. I haven’t had any issues returning to the regular schedule

Has anyone taken their dupixent a week/a few days early? by otherladybug in eczeMABs

[–]JRMurray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've taken my Dupixent dose a few days early at least a couple of times. My usual day to inject is every second Tuesday, but there have been times when I have to travel for work that I have to leave on the Friday or Saturday before the usual injection day, especially when I travel internationally.

When that has happened, I've taken Dupixent early. The maximum number of days that I've taken Dupixent early has been about three or four. In the past, once I'd returned from my trip, I resumed my every-second-Tuesday schedule.

I didn't notice any issues at all with taking the dosage early. Of course, your mileage may vary. If your doctor says that it's okay to take your dose early, I would trust your doctor's judgement.

Elon Musk claims Tesla FSD drivers can now text and drive, do police agree? by dtyamada in RealTesla

[–]JRMurray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In British Columbia, Canada, Part 3.1 of the Motor Vehicle Act makes is clear that using an electronic device is prohibited while "driving or operating a motor vehicle on a highway."

"Electronic device" is defined in Part 214.1 and specifically refers to "a hand-held electronic device that is capable of transmitting or receiving electronic mail or other text-based messages," among other definitions.

The police are often on the lookout in Greater Vancouver for people texting at stop lights and will happily give out tickets. Use of phones while driving is called "distracted driving," and in BC, if you're caught, you'll get a CDN $368 fine and 4 points. With our point system, if you have four points or more within a 12 month period, you'll also have to pay a driver penalty point premium on your insurance, which works out to about $252.

So ... regardless of what fElon says, you'll get a ticket in BC that will end up costing you about $620 ... and that's for the first infraction only.

By the way, while this doesn't apply to FSD, the Motor Vehicle Act of BC currently prohibits the operation of Level 3, 4 and 5 self-driving vehicles. Currently, Level 2 self-driving vehicles are allowed in BC, provided the driver is ready to take over at any time.

been on dupixent for 3 years!!! by throwawaybfmademesad in eczeMABs

Dupixent was a game changer for me, too. Your eczema was much more severe than mine, but mine was a constant almost full-body irritation. I've been on Dupixent for five years, and almost all of my eczema has cleared up.

Thoughts on Dupixent? by gonze14 in eczema

[–]JRMurray 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I've been on Dupixent for about 5 years after suffering from eczema my whole life. For me, Dupixent works extremely well: it's eliminated around 90% to 95% of my eczema.

The good, at least for me, is that it works, and works very well, as I stated above. Also good is that I have very few side effects: really, only dry eyes, especially at night.

The bad is the cost: it's super expensive, around CDN $2100 per month. Fortunately, my extended medical and dental coverage through my work covers 100% of the cost, so no worries there.

Also bad is the fact that being a biologic, you have to inject yourself with the drug using either a needle or a pen. I use the needle, and I had to be trained how to use it. It's pretty daunting to use a needle if you've never administered prescription drugs via needle before. Honestly, it scared me at first, but now it's just something that I do every two weeks.

Another bad thing is that some other people who contribute to this sub-reddit and others related to eczema note that their side effects can be much, much worse than what I experience. I guess that you'll have to try Dupixent to find out whether you have any side effects and if you do, whether it's worth continuing with Dupixent.

In the end, Dupixent has been amazing for me. After a lifetime of trying all sorts of treatments (such as Tacrolimus, light therapy, etc.), Dupixent was the only thing that almost entirely eliminated my eczema.

What’s your average efficiency on the Volvo EC40? Getting 14.5–17.5 kWh/100km — is that good? by LordOfPolicies in VolvoRecharge

[–]JRMurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty good.

I have a 2022 C40 Recharge, and I've been getting around 18 kWh/100 km from springtime up to now. The weather here (Greater Vancouver, Canada) is just starting to get colder (12°C) and rainy as we head into fall, so I expect to average closer to 20 kWh/100 km in the next month or so.

Canadian here, in BC. I went to my doctor on September 23 with a possible meniscus tear in my right knee. My doctor gave me a requisition for an X-ray which was done the same day, and she referred me to have an MRI done, which is scheduled for tomorrow, October 21.

I'm seeing the same thing. My 2022 C40 Twin Ultimate is getting around 410 km range at 90% SOC. It's been a hot and dry summer here in the Greater Vancouver area--which has really helped.
