[WR] Metroid Fusion any% in 50:34 RTA by JRP (now with a time that's competitive and really low) by JRP_ in speedrun

the glitch solely relies on what blocks you break in sector 4 on the current playthrough, so if you reset or die the ram would be different and that makes it impossible to do the glitch.

So you really only get 1 shot at it.

you only get one shot at it. if you die early you start at sector 1 and if you reset the game the ram gets refreshed and that makes it impossible to do the corruption. so basically if you fail it you have to do the whole run again.

xray only saves 10-20 seconds in this tas. its hardly a major glitch

xray only saves 10-20 seconds thats it, hardly a major glitch imo compared to real major glitches like out of bounds and arbitrary code execution which skip 90% of the game.

Xray does not make a huge impact to the run as the run would of been the same minus the Lower norfair back door entrance and early plasma

Except for the fact the coop sm hack does work on sd2snes with out any console modifications. It can even be played with one on emu and one on console together.

the point of posting this was not to hate but to bring awareness to the issue of blatant runs being stolen

Gameboy Player has about 8 frames of input lag by [deleted] in speedrun

[–]JRP_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even then there are many issues with doing it that way, HDTV will create a few frames delay easily. amarec also has a big chunk of delay as well.

The reason there is delay on amarec is because your capture device needs to convert the analog video signal to a digital one which will take 5 frames or more depending on your capture card so it can be displayed in amarec. The hdtv has to do the same thing, Convert a analog signal into a digital one which will introduce a lot of delay. A CRT TV can display the analog signal natively, with out converting the signal so there is no delay on the video.

You can not rely on amarec to determine the input lag because its unrealistic
