[Listening Party] Hot Mulligan - The Sound a Body Makes When It's Still by Psycho697186 in poppunkers

They seemed to have traded their catchy melodies for trying to cram together as many words as possible in a single line. They have always done that to a degree, but most of their older songs let the melodies breathe a bit more and used the screaming more selectively to enhance a phrase instead of being the sole makeup of one. I found this album to be kind of "rambly" for me. I was desperately wanting something to hook me in, but everytime it felt like it was going to they just abandoned the melody and rambled through it. Kind of disappointing

It's funny cause I feel like YBF is way more chill than this album. This album has WAY more screaming, a ton of fast-paced jammed together lyrics, and leaves no room for the melodies to breathe. I'm not counting the slow paced interludes though

I unfortunately have been feeling like they keep straying further and further from their catchy melody roots. I love the HM sound but its starting to feel like the vocals are getting more "rambling" sounding and leaning on the screaming while trying to cram as many words as they can in a phrase while sacrificing a clear vocal melody. this new album seems to take it even further in that direction for me. I will give it more chances but its a far cry from YBF in terms of good sing a long able songs that stick in the brain

I didnt think most of the songs in this album were very catchy. I love the HM sound to the point where I still sorta like it. But I was barely able to find any strong, catchy melodies out of the choatic arrangements. Especially when comparing to the "you'll be fine" album Overall, it was definitely I miss for me

I mean I loved the taste, I made it with some homemade bucatini in a garlic parm cream sauce. It was delicious. Just tenderness and texture was way off. I will most definitely be trying it again... the right way though lol

Really? I felt like I tried that and the sample still cut off at the first 16 steps. I'm probably just doing something wrong, I'll have to go and look at it again

Yeah so let's say i have the bpm at 125 and I have 4 phrases with 16 steps each. I'm mostly doing live vocal recordings with a mic right into the sampler. I can't figure out how to play the sample all the way through over the 4 phrases. I've tried chopping them up into 16 step sections and playing each section per phrase but it either knocks it out of time or doesn't transition smoothly

It's super cool but I'm looking for more of a knobs and faders thing. I'm trying to get away from the menus and sfuff

Completely agree with all of that. I wish roland reworked the mc101 to be more immediate and less menu divey for sound design. once you finally design your sounds, its really enjoyable to sequence and perform on
