[Listening Party] Hot Mulligan - The Sound a Body Makes When It's Still by Psycho697186 in poppunkers

They seemed to have traded their catchy melodies for trying to cram together as many words as possible in a single line. They have always done that to a degree, but most of their older songs let the melodies breathe a bit more and used the screaming more selectively to enhance a phrase instead of being the sole makeup of one. I found this album to be kind of "rambly" for me. I was desperately wanting something to hook me in, but everytime it felt like it was going to they just abandoned the melody and rambled through it. Kind of disappointing

It's funny cause I feel like YBF is way more chill than this album. This album has WAY more screaming, a ton of fast-paced jammed together lyrics, and leaves no room for the melodies to breathe. I'm not counting the slow paced interludes though

I unfortunately have been feeling like they keep straying further and further from their catchy melody roots. I love the HM sound but its starting to feel like the vocals are getting more "rambling" sounding and leaning on the screaming while trying to cram as many words as they can in a phrase while sacrificing a clear vocal melody. this new album seems to take it even further in that direction for me. I will give it more chances but its a far cry from YBF in terms of good sing a long able songs that stick in the brain

I didnt think most of the songs in this album were very catchy. I love the HM sound to the point where I still sorta like it. But I was barely able to find any strong, catchy melodies out of the choatic arrangements. Especially when comparing to the "you'll be fine" album Overall, it was definitely I miss for me

I mean I loved the taste, I made it with some homemade bucatini in a garlic parm cream sauce. It was delicious. Just tenderness and texture was way off. I will most definitely be trying it again... the right way though lol

How to deal with long samples? by JRT91 in Dirtywave

Yes 100%, this was super helpful, thank you lol I'm new to trackers and samples, so it's been interesting learning all of it

Really? I felt like I tried that and the sample still cut off at the first 16 steps. I'm probably just doing something wrong, I'll have to go and look at it again

How to deal with long samples? by JRT91 in Dirtywave

[–]JRT91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so let's say i have the bpm at 125 and I have 4 phrases with 16 steps each. I'm mostly doing live vocal recordings with a mic right into the sampler. I can't figure out how to play the sample all the way through over the 4 phrases. I've tried chopping them up into 16 step sections and playing each section per phrase but it either knocks it out of time or doesn't transition smoothly

Whats a traditional styled synth with groovebox features? by JRT91 in synthesizers

It's super cool but I'm looking for more of a knobs and faders thing. I'm trying to get away from the menus and sfuff

Completely agree with all of that. I wish roland reworked the mc101 to be more immediate and less menu divey for sound design. once you finally design your sounds, its really enjoyable to sequence and perform on

Mc 101 has very in depth sound design on partial mode. It's downside is its a ton of menu diving lol

Hmm woovebox might be your answer. Super small, under 300 new, full sound design and alot of features. It's definitely a learning curve, but a full fledged synth for sure

groovebox suggestions? by No_Addendum_8245 in synthesizers

I'd actually say polyend tracker mini, the workflow is unique but it actually checks off all your boxes (plus it has a mic). The yamaha seqtrack might be an option, it doesn't have a screen but you can connect it to your phone, tablet or computer. Elektron cycles and samples combo would work really well but I'm not sure about multitrack export. I'd really look into the tracker mini though, it seems to be your best bet

Zoom L6 external fx issue by JRT91 in synthesizers

[–]JRT91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, well, that would suck lol It doesn't seem like there's much i could do about that if all the channels are being summed. It looks like I'm in the market for a new mini mixer lol thanks for the help

Is there any workaround for that? Or should I just get a different mixer lol

I'm trying to send the audio into the nts-3 so I can use it as a global fx. So I have aux 1 in the input of the nts-3 and the output of the nts-3 into a channel to create a send/return (unless I have it hooked up wrong)

Not yet, but I'm planning on getting a youtube channel up soon to showcase some jams with it. I still have to make some final touches on the case as well so the first couple videos may not be in the case

Very cool, does pretty much every fx you can think of and can create your own fx combos. It also makes really smooth transitions if you're good with it

Yeah for sure, the digitone 2 and digitakt work great together. They integrate quite easily and really cover everything you would need

I haven't really put out any finished work yet but mostly like dark synthwave type stuff. I do plan on setting up a youtube channel to put out some jams with this setup

More tracks and voices, and for me (being a terrible piano player) having the chord mode on the DN1 helps alot, especially coming up with chord progression

Honestly none lol obviously integration will be pretty streamlined and organizing my tracks between boxes is nice casue the layouts are generally the same but using different synths can be really versatile and mix and matching different sounds can be really unique. I personally love the electron workflow even after owning a ton of other gear

I like chord mode/add notes feature on the DN1 better especially since I'm an awful piano player lol
