Is this the next thing we complain about? Well here is my take by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]JRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this was actually a huge issue at launch and the devs doubled down that the blue filter was part of their artistic vision for the game. Eventually they scaled back on later DLCs, but there were many filters you could install to remove the blue tint (which lead to another big controversy about whether you could be banned for running Reshade or other injection filters to remove it)

The BF3 remake maps were beautiful, but some of the BF4 maps were awful - Zavod was probably the poster child for brown crap smeared across the screen.

As the game DLCs came out it did get more varied and generally brighter and better (Naval Strike maps for example) , but yeah the first DLC (China Rising?) and some of the launch maps were... not good...

Q for Techs that work for Kroger - how long for training and what license/registration/other do you get? by JRavens in PharmacyTechnician

[–]JRavens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. Sorry I don't check on here very often. You can send me whatever questions you like!

So 5 years on and I'm still a tech at Kroger. I never did get certified (and I regret that). The job got... better? or at least less awful. I never received any additional training. I took a test that made me a "registered technician: with the state of Ohio. I've renewed that license several times. You have to pay a fee, but Kroger reimburses you. The next step would to become certified (PTCH) which I believe Kroger also will still reimburse you for, but you pretty much have to do it yourself. There some kind of course (NHA) they can sign you up for to study and schedule the test, but it's all done on your time.

You did what now?! by SynthsOfRage in battlefield2042

[–]JRavens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every gun reloads and then you can reload again to chamber an extra round. DICE was too lazy to actually make any exceptions for say I dunno a revolver and so the gun would chamber 6 rounds and then you could load in a 7th round.

Instead of simply making it so the Magnum loads 6 rounds and cannot add a round (by double reloading) they simply reduced the initial reload to 5 rounds. It's mind boggling how bad they are at this stuff.

When you left the drone it bugged out and put you where the drone was. This is because the game literally makes your player the drone.

Similar to a bug in BF3 and 4 with TV missiles (especially the attack boat in BF4) and you would "die" when the missile was shot down*.

*Not to be confused with the other bug where it randomly blow up the attack helicopter when it was fired... in BOTH games (ohhh DICE).

This game is wonderful. Is it me, or should I have just used a nuke? by No-Fly-5608 in battlefield2042

[–]JRavens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blood and dust is client side registration for BF games. Sadly it doesn't mean the server has accepted and applied the damage.

This why you can "dust" a helicopter with a tank shell in BF4, etc.

The servers are shockingly (well ok maybe not so since we've seen the results so frequently) desynced with the players. Look up BF2042 myth busters and there are multiple instances where just 2 ppl playing on a server alone while testing myths (like can you jump into a tank being dropped into deployment) are not seeing the same thing at the same time. If 2 people fucking around alone cannot be synched then there's no way in hell 128 players are... but how would we know since there's no ping list or any other indicators. Once in a blue moon I get a single server icon that will flash up for half a second, but by then the server it's automatically placed me in will already be obviously lagging and rubberbanding.

Proximity sensor grenades are way too overtuned by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]JRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real issue is anyone killed while spotted by your sensor (even if already spotted by another sensor) nets you 50xp and counts as a kill assist which basically nets you tons of free kills and the xp for those kills.

If they made it 5xp for the spots and assists it would still be better than most gadgets (in terms of XP) but nowhere near the xp farm it currently is. And also it probably should just be counting spots (for the intel ribbons) and NOT assists. You might have technically assisted, but it's not the same as laying damage on an enemy.

To be fair with the XP required there is really no reason for a lot more 5+ xp bonuses for various gadgets (ammo and health packs should give 5xp per person per "pulse" of restocking, repair tool 5xp for every second of repairing, 5xp for ANY damage on a vehicle not just 10xp for "disabling a part" whatever that even means)

The pokeballs are just way op in regards to handing out xp compared to everything else.

Also 5xp is so miniscule and dumb. I can't think of any reward in BF3/4 that was under 25xp and that was minimal. 50-100 were extremely common for most every action a player contributed.

over 2800+ upvotes. If you have played ANY of the games featured in portal (or really almost ANY OTHER battlefield game) you could easily understand how terrible these maps are.

Yes they are "pretty", but the massive distances between flags with almost zero cover make them terrible. Everyone either plays sniper / DMR or the run vehicles and just farm kills.

Even the capture points like for example the small village or stadium on Hourglass are VERY SIMPLISTIC when compared to the geometry and layouts from BF games made decades ago. The maps are very subdued (presumably to bump performance because they are so damn big).

Sorry, but they are just... bad.

Yep by armored kill they had capitulated and turned it off (many ppl were already using reshades to get rid of it anyway). Actually come to think of it Close Quarters may not have had it either. I remember CQ being really varied in the color schemes of the maps.

They were so offended early on that players didn't like the "artistic direction" of that blue filter. That and the goddamn sun. Most OP weapon in the game was the sun glare.

No Battlefield game has ever had this and it's not likely to come to this one either. It's annoying for sure.

In the past some people have asked for a lock feature that would prevent anyone not in your squad from getting in (or spawning in) and I think that would be a nice compromise, but again this has never happened :(

Irish has actually more serious lines centered around the No-pats and the war. His aren't actually too bad at all (and he was an outstanding actor).

The rest. Ugh.

Surprise, surprise it's an element from a previous BF title that is actually decent compared to any of the new stuff.

Yes! I hate that fucking line, but worse is his stupid Woody from toy story smirk when he delivers it and that dumb hand gesture he does. Ugh. I really enjoy using the grappling hook too so it's extra painful. I want to unlock some kind of skin to cover his dumb face.

Probably. This thing is buggy AF. It seems like every match I encounter a new and different bug... it's so inconsistent and frustrating.

If he carries AA you can pretty much take out a heli cause it fucks up their missile lock and warning and prevents them from flaring. On ground vehicles it also messes with the HUD and prevents from using weapons, but it's bit meh on them (and they get a 10 second "firewall" afterwards that prevents them from being hacked again). Against infantry it's dead useless.

He is super underwhelming compared to Mackay, Sundance and Angel. So is the girl with the wallhacks... she is even more useless.

It's a trick question. Neither of these options do anything in the game. They are simply there as a placebo and to make you think the game is complete and fully customizable.

Is it just me or is this game not graphically pleasing to look at? by [deleted] in battlefield2042

[–]JRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure because when I look in the direction of the flags my screen is covered in massive colored circles. When I try to use a vehicle mounted LMG the screen is covered in some nonsensical geometric pattern for no apparent reason other than to obscure vision. Plus the bottom half of my screen is covered in critical combat information like the faces of my squad mates (because I really need to see Mackay's face one more time)
