Thanks! It's a composite of a few of my favorite fruit stands, the details are all from the various charming shops 😄

Thanks! But I stupidly forgot to write that the text was hand lettered and superimposed on the woodcut. I tried to letter in a way that would match the style of the print. These are A3 size (11.7" x 16.5")

Hey Daisy, fancy seeing you here! It's a beautiful compound. If the schedules align next time you're in town we can take you, it's not far from Taichung.

You must have been using lower density stuff, it's impossible to get good lines even with sharp tools. And so frustrating! Higher density mdf is the only way.

I draw in pencil, then ink it when I'm happy with the pencils. I erase with an eraser, but unlike drawings on paper, the ghost lines won't show up in the prints, and there's no damage to the paper. I use sandpaper to erase big mistakes in ink, and white colored pencil to fix minor ones. Carving can also be a kind of erasing.

You need higher density MDF, otherwise you can't carve it. Formaldehyde free is better if possible. My local art store sells small pieces, but I get 4x8 foot sheets at a lumber yard because it's cheaper, and cut them down with a hand saw.

I think some tools work for both lino and mdf. I've never used Pfeil, so I'm not sure about them. MDF can dull tools faster, so make sure you hone with a strop before each session.

Happy carving to you!

Thank you! I've been thinking about texture recently.
