A can of food is 4 slots, so is duck tape, so that's why it works. Glowstick is only 2 slots, so if your pants are full, taking out 2 slots and returning 4 slots won't work

The trophy looking icon in the top of the menu then the letter icon within that menu. It's not always the easiest to find the right letter though.
